For many, Mt. Eden’s seminal 2009 release “Sierra Leone” was pivotal in their introduction to a new wave of electronic music, where loud, melodic bass reigned supreme, and swiftly collided with popular music on an array of viral remixes. Six years on, having released two well-received EPs and a generous fistful of popular singles and remixes, the iconic duo’s underground success has evolved into an authentic global notoriety rarely matched in the EDM community. And with the looming release of their highly anticipated No Mans Land EP, Jesse Cooper and Harley Rayner are poised to take their brand of music to new pinnacles in 2015.
In 2012, the duo strategically relocated from the quaint, peaceful suburbs of Auckland, New Zealand, to the bustling metropolis of New York City. The move proved to be a wise one for the band, who locked themselves away in a small studio in Brooklyn to reinvent their sound and conjure up a plan for their long awaited comeback. In late 2012, having recorded and developed a new body of original work, Mt. Eden signed a multi-album deal with independent dance music giant Ultra Records - where they joined an impressive roster of well established artists such as Deadmau5, Kaskade and Steve Aoki.
In New York, having been taken under Ultra's wing, Mt. Eden went from strength to strength, working and preforming with some of the industry's finest producers, composers and vocalists. In June 2013 they released their Walking On Air EP to critical acclaim and the subsequent singles culminated in their selection for MTV Iggy's Artist to watch series - a televised music video performance at Manhattan's Webster Hall - at which they performed their singles live with a strings quintet. Following the release, the duo embarked on an impressive touring schedule throughout 2013 - 2014 which, to the delight of their fans, saw them returning once again to headline the biggest festivals and clubs in opposite corners of the globe. Whilst on the road the pair continued to write and develop their sound, developing a buzz for their next major release as they wowed unsuspecting audiences with sets stacked with unreleased material.
Now, in 2015, having already unleashed the first single “Distance Kills”, the duo is gearing up for their next major release - the highly anticipated No Mans Land EP. After a brief touring hiatus at the end of 2014, and having been recently picked up by The Windish Agency for North America, the duo is ready to stake their claim on 2015 as the year of Mt. Eden.
