Steffi

Dutch-born Steffi is a key figure in the realms of contemporary electronic music. A resident at Panorama Bar, and a respected producer and label owner, her work embraces underground electronic culture in its many forms.

With the experience that comes with promoting underground parties for over a decade, and running two record labels - Klakson, and her quickly expanding Dolly imprint - Steffi has developed a natural and professional balance between DJing and making records. Her productions continue to mature and shine, exploring many different aspects of House and Techno, with a distinctive clarity and classic approach.

After 6 years as a Panorama Bar resident, in the spring of 2013 Steffi compiled and mixed the 'Panorama Bar 05' mix CD. Fusing new tracks she selected from other respected producers like Fred P, Dexter or Juju & Jordash, along with new material of her own, she crafted a timeless mix of underground House, Disco and Techno, rich in character and narrative.

Since her move to Berlin in 2007, Steffi produced a growing discography of warm, classic-inspired and hardware-enriched records. Starting with the inclusion of the track '24 Hours' on Tama Sumo's 'Panorama Bar 02' mix, and 'Sadness' on Prosumer's following '03' CD, her relationship with Ostgut Ton grew stronger. This was confirmed with the moody 'Kill Me' EP, which preceded the arrival of her debut album 'Yours & Mine' on the label, released in 2011. The album included the unmistakable 'Yours' featuring Virginia, alongside pure and hypnotic moments like 'Mine' or 'Nightspacer', making up an emotional debut LP reflecting her love for real, uncompromised club music.

The development of her forward-pushing sound was then marked by the 'Schraper' EP in 2012 on Ostgut, emphasising Steffi's ability to produce flowing, bass-heavy club tracks, floating between classic House and contemporary Techno.

Steffi also releases music as 'Third Side' alongside Lucretio and Marieu - better known as the Analogue Cops. Together in 2012 they released their 'Unified Fields' LP on Restoration Records, exploring the dynamics of a live-jam studio environment. To the 'Cops dirt and raw punch, Steffi brings clarity and poise, and the team continue to take their hardware-only Live show to clubs worldwide. Continuing the trend of working with strong, cultured labels, Steffi also released original material on labels like NYC's Underground Quality, or Holland's Field Recordings. Now very at home in the studio, Steffi also provided numerous remixes for some of the most respected labels in the scene.

Always looking forward, Steffi's field of influence continues to expand. Her work as a DJ, distinctive productions, and sought after releases on her own labels, all reflect the love she has for vinyl and help to celebrate the culture of underground dance music.

Anthony Parasole should need no introduction to newer or longer-standing denizens of the New York Deep House and Techno scenes. A longtime employee of halcyon, friend of Levon Vincent and partner in Deconstruct Music, and a prominent figure with the underground house and Techno resurgence of NYC, Anthony’s acute selections won our ears right away, and he hasn’t let go since. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Anthony Parasole has had a lifelong love affair with electronic music. Listening to radio shows playing the early dance tracks from New York, Chicago, and Detroit that really perked up his ears. His earliest experiences at the New York clubs and Storm Raves really blew his mind wide open. Not content to just be another party kid, Anthony began scouring the record stores for all of his favorite tracks. From the late-80's to the mid- 90's, Parasole was also huge into hip-hop. His engulfment in this gritty New York street-music is an influence on his style to this day, not only the music but the culture.

2003 to 2007, Anthony was a House and Techno buyer at the Halcyon record store. Through Halcyon, a real pillar of the scene in NYC, Parasole made many contacts, and of course, multiplied the size of his record collection by carefully selecting all the best records from the store. He threw the “New Jack City” party at APT with his co-workers at Halcyon, bringing in The Martinez Brothers for one of there first NYC gigs, Slam Mode, Todd Sines, Brennan Green, and many more. This party really increased Anthony’s exposure in New York, and led to many gigs at bigger clubs including opening slots on dancelfoors like Pacha nyc & Cielo amungst many other venues. He then launched the "Deconstruct Music"record label with his partner Levon Vincent. DEC-01 “Invisible Bitchslap” by Levon Vincent sold out in one week, and immediately put the label on the map and had Hardwax and other influential stores are clamoring for more! Parasole also founded the once famed House-N-Home loft-party series with partner Bryan Kasenic of The Bunker that party left a mark and a blueprint in NYC . Zak aka DVS1(devious one), is one of the most prominent figures in the Midwest/US dance music landscape today. A local DJ favorite since the mid nineties, DVS1 continues to move floors with a combination of deep musical knowledge, unparalleled enthusiasm, and a vinyl collection of more than 10,000 records. Zak’s deep roots and his bold and uncompromising nature have won him great respect as a passionate and outspoken defender and promoter (HUSH) of quality music.

Zak began DJing in New York in the early nineties, focusing on the acid sounds of that time. After relocating to Minneapolis in the mid 90’s, his style evolved, like that of techno itself, into something more complex, something deeper and more rhythmic. Since then, he has branched out into a wide variety of sounds—from hard and fast, to deep and hypnotic, to slow and soulful. Rather than giving limiting names to the genres he plays, he describes the music as beats, rhythms, textures, and colors. His philosophy is that the genre distinctions themselves aren’t important—the emotional content of the music is. This focus is readily apparent in the way he moves crowds—both literally and figuratively—by fusing together sounds that paint coherent, evocative, and powerful moods that are always appropriate for the time and place he is playing.

His range and emotional focus explains why as a DJ, Zak has garnered unique respect locally, around the U.S., and now worldwide. A consummate performer, Zak never maps out his sets ahead of time, opting to craft sets spontaneously from within the context they are intended for. He does this the old-fashioned way—with bags of wax carefully assembled from his massive record collection. This improvisational element makes each of his sets a one-of-a-kind personal expression, never again to be repeated, in which the audience’s mood and energy level always plays a notable role. Unsurprisingly, DVS1’s sets tend to draw large and enthusiastic crowds. In the past, he has shared the booth and been asked to open for some of the world’s most acclaimed DJ/Producers.

As a producer, DVS1 makes music that is simple, effective and captures the feeling of the moment. DVS1’s first release, on Ben Klocks label Klockworks (kw05) was released in August 2009 and was immediately charted by heavy weights such as Derrick May, Samuel Sessions, Luke Slater, James Ruskin, Stephan Goldman, Funktion, Dj Deep, Tommy Four Seven, Tamo Sumo, Martin Landsky, Efdemin, Dustin Zahn, Dario Zenker, Ryan Elliot, Insideout, Jonass Kopp, Par Grindvik, Marcel Fengler, Kevin Gormann, Tobi Neumann, Monika Kruse, Dos Santos, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Shannon, Ben Klock, Rejected, Camea.

With his second vinyl release on the legendary TRANSMAT label(MS98 Love Under Pressure EP) DVS1 once again stakes his claim and cements his position among current electronic music tastemakers. Similar to his first release, Love Under Pressure has been received with equal acclaim and charting from his peers. The track “Pressure” was licensed to the infamous Berghain club for Ben Klocks most recent mix CD (Berghain 04).

Future releases are already scheduled for Luke Slater (Mote Evolver) and for Klockworks. Remixes on Perc Trax, Prologue, Synewave and more on the way.
