MAD Dragon Records 10th Anniversary Concert

Cheers Elephant

Dubbed, "Chew it up, Spit it out, Rock and Roll", Cheers Elephant is a tight, rootsy, psychedelic poprock quartet from Philadelphia, PA. Digging deep into three part harmonies and pop song arrangements, Cheers has a sound that'll make your dad's toe tap, your mom's hip shake, and your sister's heart throb. And the live show? Some say it's something close to the devil, God, or cocaine.

On May 8th, 2012, Cheers Elephant played The Apple Store Philadelphia for the official release of their third record, Like Wind Blows Fire. The record was extremely well received as it charted well on the CMJ indie charts . The track 'Leaves' hit #4 on Hype Machine and featured on We Are Hunted, NPR, Ex.FM, Good Music All Day, and Spotify. Cheers has shared the stage with acts like Mayer Hawthorne, Rubblebucket, The Go! Team, The Walkmen, Darwin Deez, Jefferson Starship, The Mother Hips, and more. So, why not take a sip of Cheers Elephant? The buzz is good.

Hoots & Hellmouth

Philadelphia's Hoots & Hellmouth blend the twisted roots of American music in a fierce and fiery alchemy. Soulful three-part harmonies co-mingle with stringed things and foot stomps to build a synergy that bursts from both stage and speaker with aural aplomb. It's city and country. It's rock and soul. It's bleeding, sweating, crying, rejoicing…It's alive! Ask anyone who's seen them perform, from Portland, ME to Portland, OR, and they'll tell you the same.
Premium Package $30 ticket, limited to only 100 tickets for the evening. Premium Package Ticket gets (1) Union Transfer exclusive limited edition vinyl 7" and t-shirt package from Hoots & Hellmouth. Kuf Knotz

"Kufie" has been making a name for himself as a member of some of Philly's most cutting-edge alternative rap crews; first as a founding member of the BurnDown All-Stars, and more recently, his own group, hip-hop/soul collective The Hustle. Knotz, a.k.a. Ty Green, is now making his solo career top priority, and with Boombox Logic, he's created a diverse, far-reaching collection that underscores the rapper's eclectic tastes.

Andrew Lipke and The Prospects

Twenty years after moving from South Africa to the U.S., Philadelphia-based folk-rocker Andrew Lipke has carved out a distinctive sound that reflects his surroundings, both past and present. With influences ranging from classical to classic rock, Lipke specializes in rock ballads with sticky melodies and occasionally dark insights on love and death. On his newest album, Mother Pearl and Dynamite, his swooning vocals are a perfect match for the cello and pedal-steel guitar of his backing band, The Prospects.

Matt Duke

Matt Duke is a South Jersey-bred singer/songwriter currently signed to Drexel University's student-run record label, MAD Dragon Records, and Rykodisc. Duke began playing piano at the age of seven, and by ten he developed a deep love for the arts. Inspired by artists such as Van Morrison, The Band, and Pearl Jam, he taught himself how to play his mother's vintage guitar. Duke spent his high school years at Philadelphia's St. Joseph's Prep, where he was exposed to Ani DiFranco, Ben Harper, Tool, and Damien Rice. Impressed by their poignant lyrics and musical ambition, Duke started writing and performing at coffee houses in Philadelphia area. By the winter of 2004, Duke recorded his first demo, which landed him placement in MAD Dragon Records compilation CD XYX.

Soon after, XM Satellite Radio's "The Loft" (Channel 50) added Duke's songs from XYX into its rotation. Duke's songs were among the most requested at The Loft, joining Bruce Springsteen and Ben Harper for six weeks at the top spot. These placements helped MAD Dragon Records secure national distribution through Rykodisc. In late 2005, Duke entered the studio to record his debut LP, Winter Child for MAD Dragon Records. He released this LP in September 2006. Winter Child was co-produced by Stewart Lerman (Loudon Wainwright, Dar Williams) and Steuart Smith (The Eagles, Shawn Colvin) at The Shinebox Studios in New York City.

Wild Rompit

Wild Rompit is an indie/folk/rock group that consists of four Jersey boys that met at Drexel University in February of 2010. Since then the four friends have been moving quickly, diving deep into the Philly art scene playing all over the tri-state area and becoming recognized as a talented up and coming band. Recently they released their first EP "Stampede" and plan to release their second EP "Bro...therhood" in mid-April. Wild Rompit brings an original sound that is inspired by early rock and roll with a taste of alternative. It is best said that Rompit is a "call from the wild," each song bringing something different to the listener.
