Brutus Gets The Girl

Brutus Gets The Girl

Brutus Gets The Girl is a indie electro pop/rock band based out of Los Angeles.

The duo consists of Silvano Barba (vocals/guitar) and sister Marisol Barba (vocals/keyboards). They began building a loyal following in 2004 playing around local L.A. venues like Hotel Cafe, Troubadour, Spaceland, The Echo and The Make Music Pasadena Festival to name a few.
They have been featured on Indie 104 FM, www.isgoodmusic.com internet radio and stories in Pasadena Weekly and Twenty Something magazines.

After honing down their hypnotizing/dancy sounds and energetic live shows, they self produced and recorded their new album “La Luna Follows The Sun”.
With influences spanning from Depeche Mode and The Cure to Café Tacuba and M83, their distinctive sound is hard to find anywhere else. Their album is available at online music stores iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.

With shows planned all around the West Coast, you will be sure to hear, see and experience Brutus Gets The Girl.

In the heart of a vast and complex urban sprawl known as Los Angeles; a city where reality is seldom far from the myth-- four individuals, brought together by shared musical tastes and aspirations, began making music together in an old downtown warehouse. There, on the other side of decadence, the group worked tirelessly to create a unique sound, drawing from post-punk/new wave, glam and indie dance rock. The four-piece took inspiration from some of their favorite artists, acts like: Roxy Music, Echo and the Bunnymen, David Bowie and The Chameleons. Armed with an arsenal of lush melodies, spine-tingling lyrics, infectious hooks and an explosive live show, The New Room soon emerged and began gigging at venues such as The Troubadour, The Knitting Factory and The Whisky A Go Go. In 2006 the band released a self-titled three-song disc which they recorded at Studio City Sound (Burbank, CA.) with the help of Grammy award winning mixer Tom Weir (Blondie, The Buzzcocks). Since then The New Room has continued to win over fans worldwide. Their debut full-length "Only World We Know" was self-released in April, 2009.

Smithfield Bargain

The story of speakeasy folksters, Smithfield Bargain, begins at a birthday party in late 2009, when a sassy young lady in a pretty dress meets two ruggedly handsome, stylish brothers in a room with a vacant piano.

Discovering a mutual love for all sounds old and new, vintage and blue, and a willingness to make music out of anything at arm’s length, the young lady and the two gentlemen convened over tea, instruments and voices in a Los Angeles living room two weeks later. David rummaged up a wine glass, a vase, an empty wine bottle and a ceramic bowl, intermittently tapping out melodic rhythms while playing his cello. Daniel put on a hat and delivered some lines from his guitar. Sri took off her shoes and sang a melody with no words. Someone brought out a piece of paper and a pen. The best darn idea that night.

Smithfield Bargain released their first full-length studio album, "Pack Up the Moon," on February 1, 2013 at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. The band has also recently added Will Logan (percussion) to their line-up. For more information please visit http://www.smithfieldbargain.com.
