Las Supper featuring Big Daddy Kane

Imagine we turn back the hands of time to the heyday of soul music when Motown and Stax Records were leading a musical revolution. Now, let’s bring Hip Hop, our generation’s musical revolution into the picture. For example, imagine Talib Kweli as a member of the Temptations or Sam & Dave being Lil Wayne & Dave. This is the concept being explored by the group Las Supper. A young powerhouse of NYC musicians called Lifted Crew created the dynamic sounds of yesteryear in a modern fashion with live instrumentation. This movement is led by the powerful and soulful voice of Show Tyme, one of R&B’s best-kept secrets. Show Tyme sang background for many of today’s musical artists who currently have such strong presence on today’s musical charts. To conclude this super group, Las Supper recruited Hip-Hop Legend Big Daddy Kane to add the element of Hip Hop to this Soul Sensation. So join Las Supper on a soulful journey as they release their debut record entitled, BACK TO THE FUTURE.
What’s in a name? Everything when it comes to this triple threat artist (Singer, Songwriter, Producer) Show Tyme. Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, Tyme has proven himself to be the epitome of soul expression. Show Tyme began honing his skills at a young age in the church as a drummer. His parents were a prominent singing/piano duo; so it was predestined for him to one day pick up the microphone. Growing up in a household where Donny Hathaway, Teddy Pendergrass, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and James Brown were the order of the day, it was only a matter of time before the soul Gods paid Show Tyme a visit. Tyme’s remarkable talents has blessed him to work with some of the music industries elite; such as Donell Jones, Kelly Price, Guru, KC & JoJo, Musiq Soulchild, M.O.P., Pharoahe Monch, and the legendary J. Dilla.
Lifted Crew is a New York City based Hip Hop collective that captivates the listener with their eclectic concoction of Soul, Funk, and R&B. These young musicians are old-souls that draw comparisons to the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire or The J.B.’s in some other lifetime. This 10-piece powerhouse consists of hard-hitting horns, an explosive rhythm section, and gives a whole new meaning to the term “Give The Drummer Some”. The core of the Lifted Crew is comprised of two sultry female vocalists, two MC’s, four musicians and the soulful/rock vocals of Nicky Cake. Their innovative sound is a product of diverse musical and cultural backgrounds, allowing them to create songs that intelligently bridge the gap between music lovers, hip-hop heads, and everyday listeners alike. Every tree has its roots, and Lifted Crew makes Las Supper stand firm and tall. Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn gave birth to one of hip-hop's most lyrical, diverse, innovative, and trendsetting M.C.'s. This artist is known by many monikers, such as Dark Gable, Black Caesar, and King Asiatic Nobody's Equal, but he is known to the world as Big Daddy Kane. This baritone voiced, dapper M.C. was the one to bring the "playa" element to hip-hop. Along with Bobby Brown and Michael Jordan, Kane put dark skin back on the map. Big Daddy Kane was the first rapper to ever hold not one but two sold out shows at the world famous Apollo Theater for women only. Appearing in and on numerous magazine covers, and gracing the pages of Madonna’s infamous coffee table book Sex; which featured Kane in provocative and half-nude photos with culture icons Madonna and Naomi Campbell, Kane has established himself as a key pioneer in the advancement of the hip-hop culture. Having collaborated with notable artists such as Public Enemy, Busta Rhymes, Barry White and the legendary Quincy Jones, Kane’s lyrical gymnastics and passion for soul music make him an irreplaceable figure, and the heartbeat behind Las Supper.

Reviews:
Big Daddy Kane‘s group Las Supper is “merging vintage soul with vintage hip-hop” on their latest album, ‘Back to the Future,’ which debuted March 22. The veteran Brooklyn emcee, along with Show Tyme and The Lifted Crew, visited Fox 5′s ‘Good Day New York’ and performed a song off the new project called ‘I Believe in Love Again.’
