Several years after releasing his commercial breakthrough album Stop All The World Now, singer and songwriter Howie Day breaks his silence with his long-awaited third studio album Sound the Alarm. The album is a stunning collection of the kind of emotionally resonant, melody-minded pop-rock gems that have earned Day a legion of devoted fans over the past 10 years. Sound the Alarm comes after more than a decade of touring, during which the Bangor, Maine, native self-released his 2000 debut Australia and became a full-time traveling musician. He became known for his powerful one-man shows, connecting with audiences through his charm, humor, the strength of his songwriting, and a warm tenor voice that "soars into fluttering, high registers, but also grates with real, pleading grit," as one critic put it.
A fresh 26-year-old singer-songwriter with big dreams and an ever-expanding fanbase, artist Jamie Kent’s future as a performer looks quite promising. Drawing on influences from modern rock artists like Ray Lamontagne and Kings of Leon as well as paying tribute to classic greats like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, Kent’s perfectly mellifluous tunes are roll-the-windows-down, soak-up-some-sun kind of good. Since the release of his debut LP in 2011, the singer-songwriter has been collaborating with his band, Jamie Kent & The Options, to cultivate a sound with a strong rock and Americana influence. Kent has no fear of hard work, playing over 200 shows a year including tours with Huey Lewis & The News, The Wood Brothers, Marc Broussard, Ellis Paul, and multiple showcases at the South By Southwest Music Festival. Kent is supported by The Collective, an amazing grassroots group of fans who help advise and fund his career in exchange for access to exclusive music, merchandise, and vote in the major decisions he makes. Additionally, he has received international radio play on over 120 stations (including BBC Radio), had his single “Changes”licensed by The Boston Red Sox, and was the recipient of a 2013 ASCAP Plus Award for his songwriting. His new EP, titled Embers & Ashes, features five songs that showcase a deeper sense of confidence as a songwriter, and as a singer. It's first single, "Broke, Not Broken" was recently premiered on RollingStone.com.
