2s & 4s is at the forefront of the new wave in improvised music. Founders Julio Monterrey (alto saxophone) and Matt Parker (tenor saxophone) grew up together in Miami, Florida and have been playing and performing together for more than a decade. Providing the harmonic and percussive glue that herds the madness of 2s & 4s are Ariel de la Portilla on bass and Mikkel Hess and David Mason on drums.
erman-french bassist, composer and improviser Pascal Niggenkemper has been living in New York City since 2005. He is active in the creative music scene in the US and Europe.
He moved in 1999 to Cologne where he studied jazz & classical double bass at Hochschule für Musik.
From 2008 to 2010 Pascal led the PNTrio with Tyshawn Sorey and Robin Verheyen. (CD "pasàpas" Konnex 2008 & “urban creatures” JazzHausMusik 2010). The trio toured extensively in Europe. Performances at the Jazzcologne Festival, Jazzherbst Konstanz and at the Kennedy Center in Washington. Recordings for the WDR and the BR Radio.
In cooperation with Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin, Pascal formed the septet vision7 that performed at Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin, Vive le Jazz in Cologne, Jazz à la Cité in Paris and will perform at Pori Jazz in Finland in July 2013.
In September 2011 Pascal released with Simon Nabatov and Gerald Cleaver the CD/LP upcoming hurricane on NoBusiness Records which is listed among 'Albums of the year' 2011 in the 'The New York City Jazz Record'. The trio performed in Canada and the USA in 2012.
He recently recorded a new solo program called: so : lo .w music for bass & shade.
Pascal is also co-leading the groups baloni (CD ‘fremdenzimmer’ Clean Feed Nov 2011) PascAli a duo for two prepared basses with Sean Ali (CD ‘suspicious activity’ creative sources September 2012) and speaking tube with Emilie Lesbros and Frantz Loriot.
He is a member of Thomas Heberer’s Clarino (CD ‘klippe’ Clean Feed Sept 2011 & ‘cookbook’ red toucan 2012), Gerald Cleaver’s Black Host, Joe Hertenstein’s HNH (HNH on clean feed 2010) and polylemma (CD polylemma on red toucan 2011), Joe Morris abstract forest, Carlo Costa’s Minerva (CD ‘saturnismo’ between the lines 2011), Joachim Badenhorst’s Carate Urio Orchestra, Alan Bjorklund’s Amygdala (CD ‘History Lesson’ 577records), Jean-Brice Godet’s Mujô the ‘Pookestra’ (CD ‘HERZKOPF dances’ 2013) and watussi (CD ‘watussi’ listen closely records 2013).

He received the following scholarships/grants: DAAD, Henry Mancini Institute, North Rhine-Westphalia composition stipend.
Zombi Jazz is a free jazz group featuring percussionist Dan Stern, bassist Eric Silberberg, trumpet player and vocalist Alex Hood, and saxophonist Michael Foster. They released a new album this January called "Foreclosure", available now.
Brad Henkel (b. 1985) is a New York City based trumpeter and composer. His work integrates composition and improvisation with new and innovative instrumental techniques and performance art. He maintains a busy schedule performing contemporary and improvised music in venues throughout the United States and Europe.
In 2011 he co-founded Prom Night Records, an artist run record label which, to date, has seventeen releases.
