The music of Jane Thatcher is a powerful array of folk rock and americana, crossing styles and sounds with the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Natalie Merchant, and 10,000 Maniacs. With one taste of her chocolate-flavored voice, foot-stomping rhythms and heartfelt lullabies, you'll see why she continues to stir the souls of her listeners.
Originally from Salt Lake City, Jane's successes have continued to spread like wildfire since landing in Chicago. Highlights include the large Widow's Peak Music Festival, and shows at prominent venues such as Lincoln Hall and Bottom Lounge. A professionally shot music video for “Good Reasons” and a brand new full length on CAUDog Records, “Poundin' a Heartbeat” round out recent achievements.
Considering that all this has occurred within the last year and a half, it is safe to say Jane Thatcher has garnered a whirlwind of support, and she won't be slowing down anytime soon. Her guitar and original music is an adventure in high spirits and positive energy.
As a solo performer Jane Thatcher is enchanting, and easily captivates the crowd with her intimate songwriting and connection with the audience. In addition, she has really stacked the deck for her music career, forging a partnership with a band of exquisitely talented musicians. Jane's high-octane group, The Steadfast Acrobats, whom appear on “Poundin' a Heartbeat”, offer a solid retro-rock pulse that creates a polished, true Americana sound for the masses.
As a social worker in Chicago working with disenfranchised people, families, and children, Jane observes a different perspective of the world we all live in, and she strives each and every day to make a difference. As a singer-songwriter initially inspired by Jewel, as well as other artists of the 60's and 70's who had a passion for social change, Jane Thatcher sees music as art that allows people to experience a new reality.

I have been writing and playing music as Leftmore since December 2004, touring with it since June 2008, and loving my life almost the entire way. For the first year and a half, I traveled with my best friend, Matt. He decided to leave the band in September 2009, and I have been solo since. I've gotten to play with (and discover!) some of my favorite bands of all time because of my wonderful opportunities.
I love music a near infinite amount, but it's all about the people I meet when it boils down. I cannot say thank you enough to all of the friends that have been a part of this experience. You all inspire me to be a better person and encourage me in my work. If my life were a nest, I'd have hundreds of strong twigs all over the place!
Please stay in touch, tell your friends, come out to shows when I'm in your town...this all means so much to me :D
The Early Years (hehe): Matt and I met sometime in late 2003-early 2004 in passing while attending CU-Colorado Springs. We played once in the fall of '04, then decided to become a band after a couple more jams that winter. We went on to become best friends and write about 25 songs together. Joe bought a tour van in November 2008 and we cruised. We found an incredible number of good people in so many places in the 6 national tours we did together. Our friend, Chris, drummed for us on the last of those 6 runs. Please consider yourself thanked if our paths crossed even shortly!
