Street Sign Orange
Street Sign Orange was formed by Brian Fairchild and Dominique Jones. Both men met as students at Queensborough Community College. They met during Jazz Ensemble and spent the semester playing tunes in class, Dominique on bass, Brian on trumpet. Brian introduced Dominique to his guitar playing and the two decided to collaborate and form a band. Brian wrote the songs and Dominique added his smooth bass lines. While looking for other musicians, Dominique and Brian came across Phil Williams (saxophone) at York College and Miles Moran (drums) while perfoming at The Shrine in Harlem. Since forming in 2011, Street Sign Orange has performed all over NYC as well as doing a tour of the rest of the state performing in Albany NY, Saratoga Springs NY, and Malone NY. Their first full band will be released on May 7th 2013. SSO's influences include John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. They play a few songs from each artists in their sets. SSO is fueled by the desire to play music. Their biggest dream is to be able to play in front of a crowd of thousands of screaming fans. Doesn't matter if it's day or night, a musical festival or a concert, they just want to be given the chance to sell out a crowd.
Capturing that New York sound.
Mean Jean Oaks
the mean jean oaks are an experimental music concept group.
they regularly perform in undisclosed locations with a handful of eclectic musicians
and record entirely free form, improvised sets.
much in the vain of miles davis' "bitches brew"
the players are given few, if any, instructions on what to play.
all the sessions are recorded and broadcast on meanjeanoaks.com for free.
