Damien Jurado is a singer-songwriter in the indie-rock tradition of Seattle, Washington. His music is regarded as being heavily influenced by folk music. Over the years he has released albums on many labels; today his primary label is Secretly Canadian. He was once in the band, Coolidge, with Seattle’s David Bazan.
He often makes use of found sound and field recording techniques, and has experimented with different forms of tape recordings. In 2000 he released Postcards and Audio Letters, a collection of found audio letters and fragments that he had found from sources such as thrift store tape players and answering machines. Also released in 2000 was Ghost of David,, Jurado’s bleakest and most personal sounding record to date. I Break Chairs, (2002) was produced by long time friend, David Bazan. It was his last album for Sub Pop, and was a much rockier, electric affair. After signing for the Indiana-based label Secretly Canadian, Damien Jurado reverted to his trademark folk ballad-based style, releasing four more albums: Where Shall You Take Me?, (2003), On My Way to Absence,, (2005) And Now That I’m In Your Shadow, (2006) and Caught In The Trees, (2008).
His next album Saint Bartlett (due out May 25th, 2010) was recorded with producer Richard Swift
Patrick Dethlefs writes songs like a humble Townes Van Zandt, full of haunting melodies and innocent lyricism. Colorado-based Dethlefs’ latest release, 2012’s Fall and Rise, offers folk Americana with effortless sincerity at a time when many acts blatantly strive to revive the stripped-down feel of a musical history long past.
Now in his early twenties, Dethlefs won the 2009 Best Teen Songwriter Award at Swallow Hill Music, one of the largest non-profit organizations in the U.S. dedicated to developing folk and acoustic music. He also received Best Song and Best Performance Awards the same year.
The innate nostalgia embedded in Dethlefs‘ music may have taken root when he first began playing. Inspired by his father, who he lost when he was young, Dethlefs first picked up a guitar at age twelve. Also a musician, Dethlefs’ father left his musical legacy to his son, who is not only humble, but humbling.
Fall and Rise follows on the impressive critical reception of 2010’s full-length Stays the Same and 2011’s split EP with The Eye and the Arrow. Dethlefs has shared the stage with such notables as Nathaniel Rateliff, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Abigail Washburn, Ben Sollee, Mountain Man and Horse Feathers, among others. He has also performed and recorded with members of Paper Bird.
“Dethlefs finds poetry in the memories and that slight pain in the laugh lines.” – Daytrotter

The Maykit has been making waves in the Greater Denver area's indie scene for nearly 4 years now, and has shared the stage with the likes of Slow Club, Balmorhea, David Dondero, Country Mice, Baywood, Alela Diane, Laura Gibson, Devon Williams, Country Mice, A Weather, Lydia Loveless, Peter Mulvey, Ivan And Alyosha, Roses Pawn Shop, Serious Moonlight (Alan from The Photo Atlas) Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps, All Human (Adam from Fear Before, Orbs) Jesus or Genome (Mike from Loom) and Miles Kurosky (from the band Beulah). In addition to building a strong respected name in CO, Max has toured the midwest and west coast with All Human and Jesus Or Genome, including playing Salt Lake City's first independent music festival, Crucial Fest, as well as The Denver Post Music Festival "The UMS" four years in a row.
The Denver Westword had this to say of Max: "Clearly there are some nods to Nick Drake in the way that The Maykit's Max Winne puts a song together. It's there in his ability to conjure images of flights of fantasy — the kind that strike you during your workday in a moment of reprieve from the prosaic tasks at hand". The Maykit has a beautifully original style that must be listened to, and further more witnessed before a true judgement can be cast.
On November 21st Over Water was added to the group of albums The Maykit has released (Two Full Lengths and on EP.) The new full band approach gives a more dynamic sound while still remaining true to the folk style.
