Smoke N' Mirrors presents Maxxi Soundsystem

Maxxi Soundsystem

Before the runaway success of club hit 'Criticize' which exploded everywhere at the beginning of 2011 from Annie Mac's Radio 1 show to being featured on Beats in Space Best of 2010 Sam Watts had been DJing, putting on parties and working hard in his studio for a number of years in his home town of Brighton.

His follow up single was the first track on Nurvous Records (a new label from NYC legendary label Nervous Records), the track Open Your Eyes on Jamie Jones Hot Waves label and recent EP on needwant records has seen huge support from Radio1's Jaymo & Andy George (who put him in their Future Stars of 2012 show) and DJs across the board from Maceo Plex, Danny Daze, Tensnake, Morgan Geist and Aeroplane to Tiefschwarz, Groove Armada and Sasha. Remixes in 2011 have also been flying out for the like of Hercules & Love Affair, The 2 Bears and Parallel Dance Ensemble the latter which hit the #1 spot on Beatport's indie dance chart.

Maxxi Soundsystem has already toured extensively since 2011 taking in Glastonbury, Glade Festival, Creamfields, Sankeys Manchester, Flux Leeds, Disco Bloodbath, Rex Club Paris, Athens and Fabric; proving he can rock any dancefloor that's put in front of him; playing a set made up of his own edits and remixes plus music plucked from his 8 years experience playing in clubs.

2012 was a big year for Sam with new original material signed to Futureboogie and Wolf Music plus a remix for the re-issue of classic disco label SAM Records (his track has been picked for a special vinyl-only release shared with Soul Clap) due out in Feb he is now concentrating on new original material with some exciting collaborations in the pipeline.

He most recently dropped the single "Regrets We Have No Use For (feat. Name One" in December.

Lance DeSardi

Not willing to claim any one dance genre as his ‘style’, Lance DeSardi's musical output teeters somewhere between the deeper sides of house and techno. At 33 and currently living in San Francisco, his music embraces all of his influences from over the years to the fullest, creating a unique juxtaposition of styles that anyone with discerning taste can get behind. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Lance got into music at very early age. After finding an affinity for bands like Nine Inch Nails, Nitzer Ebb, LFO, and 808 State, it was obvious that his calling was in music of the electronic persuasion. As he dug deeper, the raw energy of the sounds from Detroit and Chicago came calling, and djing and producing weren’t far behind… Immediately after getting his production and dj career under way, Lance uprooted and moved to California. There in the fog and lights, he found his element and quickly became a mainstay in the west-coast house music community, releasing records on labels like Classic, Naked Music, Coco Machete, Seasons, and PIAS, to name a few. With his 2003 underground hit “Tie Me Up”, under the moniker Land Shark, or his huge remix of Zap Mama’s “Rafiki”, he’s firmly solidified his place in dance music lore. These days Lance has his a hand in many different aspects of music. He runs a label and coinciding club/underground night called Bang the Box, has a slew of new releases set to go, and even does mix-down and pre-mastering work out of his home base studio, Drums & Wires. With house music back in the dance world’s favor, 2013 is shaping up to be quite a year for one of SF’s finest.
