Twin Sister create the kind of buzzy hypnotic pop you’ve been dreaming about since Galaxie 500 fizzled, cut with Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac thump, and a shot of Lynchian weirdness for good measure. They’re slack yet focused, a spark in the dark distance on a desert highway where speed is relative.
More than anything, Twin Sister want to make music you could feel comfortable cheating on someone to.
Philadelphia duo Lockets make their return after a two year hiatus. The group consists of principal songwriter/producer Todd Mendelsohn and new addition, vocalist, Melissa Ricca. Lockets have been likened to contemporaries such as Beachhouse, the influential Cocteau Twins, and have been described as "an innocent, fledgling My Bloody Valentine jacked up on a whole Halloween's worth of candy." They've previously shared stages with groups such as Mr. Twin Sister, Sylvan Esso, Exit Music, Widowspeak, and St. Lucia. The group offered up their synth-laced brand of dream-pop on their debut LP Camera Shy via London's Beautiful Strange label in 2012. They returned in the summer of 2013 with their Surrender EP that boasted an evolved sound featuring driving electronic beats and anthemic hooks drenched in an 80's synth-pop aesthetic. The lead single Surrender earned repeated spins on BBC-Radio 1, cracked the top 40 on the UK's Amazing Radio and was featured along with their track Girl on Bella Union label head and Cocteau Twins member Simon Raymonde's radio show. Mendelsohn and Ricca are currently in the process of recording Lockets' sophmore LP in anticipation of a 2016 release.
Acres of Diamonds
Acres of Diamonds makes indie music with a supernal woof, casting songs in golds in greys.
We're a slow moving ship.
In the midst of recording a new album, one of our principal songwriters left the band to start a new project. We kept recording, at Miner Street Studios with John Low, and in our newly built all analog home studio. Animal Trust is the result of that transition.
Lately, we've been inspired by fussy tone and vibe. We make each other laugh a lot.
From here on out, we'll be releasing material digitally in three song bursts roughly every six months. We hope you'll listen.
