Music lover, record collector, DJ, broadcaster… Perhaps most famous for his much loved genre-exploding radio shows on BBC Radio 1 (and 17 other stations around the world including Japan's leading commercial station J-Wave), Gilles' insatiable appetite for new music undoubtedly lies at the heart of his success. Worldwide is 10 years young and fresher than ever – a benchmark for broadcasters the world over; global demand for his DJ sets is at an all-time high; the mighty Worldwide Festival (held annually in France and Singapore) curated by GP just gets better and better; and as for his record label Brownswood Recordings? Well, it just goes from strength to strength.
JEREMY SOLE (89.9 KCRW, Afro Funké, theLIFT, Musaics) Chicago-born Jeremy Sole
> has been making beats since the MPC60, deejaying since rotary crossfaders were the standard, and playing clubs since he was too young to (legally) get in. As a teenager, Sole's loft parties were a culture clash during the birth of Hip Hop and House music. He matured as a turntablist in Jazz, Dub and experimental hybrid bands. Jeremy's upbringing was seeped in the rich Chicago history of Blues, Jazz, Disco and Funk - and he reveled in that sacred space where they all blend together. As a kid he spent many nights in the alleys behind blues clubs listening through the air vents, before heading downtown to mix at deep Disco loft parties. Meanwhile his obsession grew to include music from every corner of the world. In 2001 Sole moved to Los Angeles, and with his broad musical palette he felt right at home in the spiciest melting pot in the country.
Amp Live is building a rep as one of Cali's most talented and diverse music producer/djs. After his dreamy soulful beats for the hip-hop group Zion I, he has been able to produce for major and independent artist such as Akon (Warner), Flipsyde (Interscope Records), Nicole Schercenger of the Pussy Cat Dolls (Interscope), Tokyo Police Club, MGMT, Linkin Park, Goapele, and Mystic. Most importantly Amplive's most recent success has been his critically acclaimed "Rainydayz Remixes" album for the rock group Radiohead's In Rainbows LP. Always experimenting, Amplive has also done rock, dance, electro, mashups, and drum 'n bass.
In the past years, Amp Live has been a part of the video game industry, having his production being one of the main features for the Sony Traxxpad and also a basketball player character in the NBA 2K6 to the newly released 2K10 video game. Finally, Amp's beats have been featured on a number of movies, TV shows, and commercials, which include Nestle's "Wonka Candy-Feed Your Imagination" series, "So You Think You Can Dance", "Dirt" by Courtney Cox, "Friday Night Lights", "Honey", "Big Fat Liar","Leperchaun 4″, "Americas Top Model" by Tyra Banks, ESPN Sports center, and the "Jamie Kennedy Show".
