Alex Grey is an American artist specializing in spiritual and psychedelic art (or visionary art) that is sometimes associated with the New Age movement. Grey is a Vajrayana practitioner. His body of work spans a variety of forms including performance art, process art, installation art, sculpture, visionary art, and painting. Grey is a member of the Integral Institute. He is also on the board of advisors for the Center for Cognitive Liberty and Ethics, and is the Chair of Wisdom University's Sacred Art Department.
Grey's unique series of 21 life-sized paintings, the Sacred Mirrors, take the viewer on a journey toward their own divine nature by examining, in detail, the body, mind, and spirit. The Sacred Mirrors, present the physical and subtle anatomy of an individual in the context of cosmic, biological and technological evolution. Begun in 1979, the series took a period of ten years to complete. It was during this period that he developed his depictions of the human body that "x-ray" the multiple layers of reality, and reveal the interplay of anatomical and spiritual forces. After painting the Sacred Mirrors, he applied this multidimensional perspective to such archetypal human experiences as praying, meditation, kissing, copulating, pregnancy, birth, nursing and dying. Grey's recent work has explored the subject of consciousness from the perspective of "universal beings" whose bodies are grids of fire, eyes and infinite galactic swirls.
In 1976 during an LSD trip with my husband, Alex, I experienced my body turning into infinite strands of light that were both a fountain and a drain. As I lay meditating next to Alex, I could see that he too had been revealed as a fountain and drain, individual and distinct but connected to my "energy unit". I realized that all beings and things were "blowing off" and "sucking in" pure energy in an infinite field of confluent effluences. The energy was love, the unifying force. This changed both of our artwork as we felt that we had witnessed to the most important thing: a revelation of the grid upon which the fabric of our material reality is draped. Sometime thereafter, I read a quote describing the Jewel Net of Indra. In the abode of Indra, the Hindu God of Space, there is a net that stretches infinitely in all directions. At every intersection of the net there is a jewel so highly polished and perfect that it reflects every other jewel in the net. This description related powerfully to the revelation that we had received while in our altered state. It has been my continuing intention to point to this experience in my artwork.
Intending to create spiritual art, I feel naturally attracted to abstraction and to a written sacred language. Every known religion reveres its holy writing. Sacred writing of all faiths, however, come into conflict through human interpretation as the written word defines the differences of philosophy and traditions, when truely the basis of all religion is unity and infinite love. In 1975 I began writing automatically in an invented or transmitted language. I do not give meaning to the symbols in my art as it is meaning that separates experience from expression. The alphabet that I use points to the notion of a sacred language beyond meaning. Some of the works call to mind the experience of seeing an illuminated text in a foreign language and religion. In recent work, I combine the icons of perfection (the Jewel Net) with the secret language, and images of chaos. Chaos in my art is the entropy of the units of spectrally arranged squares using a system of "planned randomness", allowing every spectral unit to fall apart in a variety of ways -- squares falling off of a corner or the spectral unit exploding from the center, etc. The three elements used in my work, Chaos, Order and Secret Writing, are non-literal representations of the sacred.
Born in 1952, I have been married to Alex Grey for 25 years. We met at the Boston Museum School where I received a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Fine Arts. I've had one person shows at Stux Gallery and O.K. Harris Gallery in NYC, among others. Commissions of permanent public works include a 24 foot mural at the First Bank of Lowell, Massachusetts and my paintings have been collected by many corporations and individuals. I paint and collaborate with my very busy husband and adorable (and also very busy) actress daughter, Zena Lotus, in Brooklyn, New York.
VibeSquaD has the look and feel of a regular humanoid DJ / producer, but as the Crunkadelic Bass Traveler he tours the solar system bumpin' his signature sound to all the deep space inhabitants. His spaceship leaks beats to the outer edges of the galaxy, leaving a blast of subterranean ill bass in his wake. Creatures are drawn to these sounds, regularly converging in large groups to observe and move to his music.
Taking cues from classic electronic acts like Kraftwerk, The Art of Noise, and Front 242, VibeSquaD incorporates the reliable sounds of Chicago, Detroit, Miami, and the UK, informs it with his background in classic rock, psychedelic jam, and diverse jazz roots, then zaps it all with neon lasers.
The sounds he produces transmit positivity capable of inducing anything from temporary stress relief to outright elation. Tracks from his album Joyful Noise cause a type of heightened euphoria in fans, leading them to shake and bounce uncontrollably and convince their robot and alien friends to voyage thousands of light years just to witness his massive dance parties.
VibeSquaD's launch pad is in Denver, Colorado (North America), but he travels all over the planet spreading bouncy beats, elastic synth lines, glitched-out samples and wobbly bass to gyrating, electrified masses.
Downtempo, space disco, house, tech, b-boy era electro, hip hop, soul, and funk â€" if you can move, Orchard Lounge will back you up. Formed in Chicago in 2000, OL is the collective of Ben Silver, Spencer Lokken and Bethany Lokken. This versatile trio has enlightened dance floors nationwide with their eclectic mixes, from sunset chill-out to bass-dropping tech house, and an array of other futuristic sounds. Theirs is a democratic mission: to expose as many people as possible to the artists they admire and respect. What sets Orchard Lounge apart from other club DJs is, well, you won't always find them in the club. In recent years they've built a reputation as a hard-touring festival act and set-break crowd favorite, frequently supporting The Disco Biscuits, Sound Tribe Sector 9, The New Deal and Future Rock. They've also played alongside heavyweights like Bonobo, Lindstrom, DJ T, Jamie Jones, Booka Shade, Metro Area, and Kevin Yost. As The Disco Biscuits' de facto hype men (and woman), they've had the rare pleasure of performing for thousands at world famous venues like Red Rocks and the Hammerstein Ballroom, constantly keeping the crowd engaged with a unique mix of turntable and live-band improvisation.
Outside the booth, the members of Orchard Lounge continue making music: Spencer is a classically-trained violinist and regularly plays with a trio in Chicago; Ben has studied guitar for more than ten years, and continues to write and produce. Bethany quit the clarinet in college and has never looked back. Despite their affinity for live music, OL's focus hasn't shifted since the group's inception almost a decade ago: to provide sophisticated and stylish DJ sets that are appropriate in a variety of settings, from the dancefloor to the couch.
Wick-it the Instigator
Wick-it the Instigator is a multi-genre DJ and producer known as a breath of fresh air in an otherwise over-crowded EDM scene. His SoundCloud page is one of the top 200 most active pages on the entire site, garnering over 30,000 followers and 6,000,000 plays. Impressive numbers like these, which recently landed him at #5 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart, aren’t just a testament to his top-notch production skills, but also his keen ability to build and harness a highly interactive online fan base (1,000+ Facebook Fans added weekly). In 2012, Microsoft recognized that direct audience connection and chose Wick-it to produce a song for their Windows 8/Angry Birds: Star Wars commercial that they blasted to millions of prime-time viewers. With successful headline tours supplemented by huge sets at major festivals, it’s obvious his talent and success extend far beyond the studio.
Jamie Janover is recognized as a true innovator. His considerable creative output includes: being a master of the ancient percussion stringed instrument called the hammered dulcimer, inventing and performing on an instrument he calls the "mini-kit" (a miniature amplified drum kit), playing pyrocussion (fire drums) and creating the RealmsMobile (a recumbent tricycle with the mini-kit attached, enabling him to ride and play drums simultaneously).
Combining the innovations of modern technology with the wisdom of ancient instruments, Janover is achieving a creative balance between the electronic and the acoustic to create a unified field: music reflective of the nature of modern times.
For many years Janover has maintained a rigorous touring schedule, alternating between acts including: LYNX & Janover, ZILLA (w/ Michael Travis from SCI and Aaron Holstein), PRAANG (w/ EOTO & Steve Kimock) and The Everyone Orchestra (w/ a revolving lineup), among others. He is currently touring solo performing live PA set style electronic shows using his unique live rig which includes hammered dulcimer, laptop computer, mini-kit, sampler, sitar, electric kalimba and percussion.
When not playing music, you can find Janover connecting dots around the world in his extensive travels and collaborations in multiple creative realms including creating stunning images as a professional photographer, sculpture works using natural found objects and being an emissary for scientist Nassim Haramein of the Resonance Project, delivering fascinating presentations on the physics of unified field theory. Janover also produces music events including an annual electronic music festival in Colorado called SONIC BLOOM.

Ableminds is the creation of Jordan Linit and Charles Parker Mertens. Combining Dirty Beats and Live Looping with ripping synths, Filthy Basslines, and heavenly guitar, performed by two instrumentalist's/DJ's. This project truly integrates the party atmosphere of a DJ w/ the excitement of a live band that can improvise and make each performance unique. This music is "sure to make your ass shake". It is a combination of their love of composing, performing, and producing bass heavy, dance laden BEATS.
The Duo has been in the studio on and off for a year shaping their sound and working on their debut album scheduled for release in the Summer of 2011. With the album nearing completion, Ableminds has focused on incorporating live looping/improvisation with the original beats created by these 2 Colorado producers.
On stage Charlie and Jordan perform (and loop) guitars, basses, and many synthesizers, while at the same time DJ both original tracks and audio created on the fly. This dual DJ/ Live band is sure to make you think about what an "Electronic Band" should be.

The music produced by TNERTLE is a straight-up reflection of the name itself—one-of-a-kind with no hints of what to expect, yet it strikes a chord with your innermost curiosities.
TNERTLE is the concoction of Trent Campbell, a Denver native and Berklee College of Music graduate. Trent took to music at an early age beginning on bass guitar. Like most musicians, he went through the metamorphosis of high school jazz bands to prestigious collegiate ensembles to post-grad rock bands. The experience laid the pavement for a vibrant musical palate, but Campbell yearned to put his Contemporary Writing & Production degree to the utmost test. He sought out to create music that appealed to music lovers from all walks of life while naturally hopscotching around different styles ranging from funk to hip-hop to EDM and beyond. Coming up during the advent of electronic music, Campbell knew the style matched his skill set, but wanted to ensure the live performance element was fully intact.
Thusly, TNERTLE was born. In addition to bass, Campbell began learning the ins and outs of midi controllers to give performances a humanistic approach. Rather than play it safe and trigger different sections of the music by simply pushing buttons, Campbell performs melodies using Machine Controller cradled in snare drum stand and tilted toward the audience. This allows him to captivate audiences by giving them a visual display of his instrumental mastery and improvisation skills.
TNERTLE solo shows are the perfect compliment to Campbell’s original “full band” configuration of the group. Calling upon an up-to-9-member musical squad that includes live drums, horns, guitars and MCs, TNERTLE has a reputation for giving audiences the ultimate audio and visual smorgaspboard. However, TNERTLE solo shows are evolving into a whole different creature as Campbell performs never-before-heard remixes, introduces brand new original material, incorporates live improvisation, and reworks songs played by the full band.
Regardless of ensemble, Campbell’s primary objective has always been to get people dancing to melodic representations that bob and weave through all of life’s intricacies and emotions. Whether it’s utilizing big beats, composing smooth melodies, and working within flowing chord structures, TNERTLE will connect with listeners who want to let loose and have no preconceived notions of how life is suppose to be or where it’s going to take you. Go with the flow and you can ensure that you’ll have the time of your life.
