Aniya
“A well-integrated tapestry of sound... a hint of traditional, a thread of fusion, a continued rhythm in motion... A must-have for the discerning jazz connoisseur.” -Dr. Gloria James - Avenue C - WVUD 91.3fm
Aniya is a seven-piece contemporary jazz ensemble brought together by group leader Delbert Boyer. The name, Aniya, was taken from Delbert's first granddaughter. They were founded in 2003 when Delbert collaborated with Mr. Andre Hoxster to produce their first CD, a self-titled release. The rest of the story is true musical history. Since 2003, Aniya has released four successful albums with various musicians performing and collaborating on each release. 2005’s “In the Moment” introduced Mark Mitchell on sax and Tyrone 'T- Bone' Blandford on bass and 2009’s “One Love” featured Rob Nelson on drums and Monty Pollard on keyboard. Their latest CD, “Full Circle,” was released on November 19, 2011 and features J. Lamar Wagner on percussion and Philip Joseph on vocals. These are the current members of Aniya, an ensemble of great musicians working together to produce an out-of-sight jazz sound that enables you to relax and meditate with a positive frame of mind. A melting pot of jazz, funk, Latin, R&B, gospel and hip hop, their music will have you grooving with smooth notes circulating from your head to your toes.
Make no mistake, Aniya is a force to be reckoned with.
