Bear and the Beasts
Bear and the Beasts are a rowdy 6-piece soul-tinged Americana band from Denver that blends elements of folk, jazz, and roots into a cosmic sound that can explode like a quasar or float like a Tesla Roadster through space. With a white-knuckled, bone-rattling intensity and a compositional command that is downright orchestral, they tackle themes such as social justice, death, and millennial malaise with a paradoxical sense of gravitas and irreverence. Backed with devastatingly powerful songwriting, delicately crafted vocal harmonies, and lush, innovative horn arrangements, Bear and the Beasts have created a powerful tour de force that can turn the diviest bar into a tent revival.
They are currently recording their debut full-length, "The American", set to be released in 2018.
Anthony Ruptak is a Denver-based musician who composes, writes and performs his original work with a simple mission: to connect us all to the human condition. Through his lyrics, community cultivation, and activism Anthony advocates for positive, inclusive progress in our society. Anthony Ruptak aims to be a voice for the lost and disaffected, a midnight friend for those with nowhere else to go, a sounding board when you need a place to put your voice, and a safety net for the misshapen, the abandoned, and the eccentric because everyone’s a freak and he is so okay with that.
A soundtrack for the nights you’re too proud to give in to your regrets, Automatic Iris is an American rock band from Denver, Colorado. The band’s original pop songs, drawing from indie rock, folk, new wave and alt-country, incorporate sweet harmonies, filthy distortion and occasional garage-rock freak outs. Each Automatic Iris performance includes tales of smart people making poor decisions, songs of heartbreak, geography and always… always… Science Minute with Courtney, a highly educational, strange but true scientific fact from our resident neuroscientist.
Songwriters Amanda Gonulsen and Michael Saul met in folk music school before going electric and subsequently getting expelled for distortion pedal abuse. In 2013 Amanda and Michael joined forces with multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and New Wave scholar Glenn Hermanson to form Automatic Iris. The full band features vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Courtney Wilson (formerly of The Belle Jar, The Far Stairs), and drummer Ryan Elwood (Natalie Walker, Voodoo Kings, Wonderlic).
Automatic Iris released their debut EP Escape Routes in May 2016.
