Bison Bone

BISON BONE IS A WORKING CLASS AMERICANA ROCK BAND FROM DENVER, CO. THEY HAVE SHARED THE STAGE WITH ISRAEL NASH, CORB LUND, AMERICAN AQUARIUM, SUSTO, THE DAMN QUAILS, MIDNIGHT RIVER CHOIR.

“BISON BONE’S NEW SINGLE CRYING SHAME IS EXACTLY WHAT AMERICANA ROCK SHOULD SOUND LIKE. IT HAS PLENTY OF SOUL AND WITH THE DEEP HEARTY VOCALS IT FEELS LIKE THE SINGER TRULY KNOWS THE PAIN OF WHAT THE SONG DESCRIBES. COUPLE THAT WITH THE STRONG GUITAR RIFF AND YOU’VE GOT YOURSELF A SONG TO LISTEN TO AT LEAST THREE TIMES A DAY.” -303 MAGAZINE

"THE RECORD BLENDS SOUTHERN COUNTRY WITH PSYCHEDELIC AND GARAGE ROCK INTO A GENRE THAT SINGER AND FOUNDER
COURTNEY WHITEHEAD DUBS "COSMIC COUNTRY."-CPR OPEN AIR

"BISON BONE MASTERFULLY BLENDS ALT-COUNTRY WITH EXPERIMENTAL GUITAR ROCK WITH THOUGHTFUL, EVOCATIVE STORYTELLING. ONE IS STRUCK BY HOW COURTNEY WHITEHEAD AND THE REST OF THE BAND MAKE THEIR TAKE ON COUNTRY AND ROCK VERY MUCH THEIR OWN THING. YOU HEAR NODS TO TOWNES VAN ZANDT, GRAM PARSONS AND OTHERS WHO CONNECTED THE ROOTSY WARMTH OF COUNTRY WITH AN OTHERWORLDLY ENERGY EXCEPT THAT BISON BONE IS CONNECTED TO ANOTHER REALM OF THE COSMOS AND THE SONGS TRANSFORM INTENSE, POTENTIALLY SOUL CRUSHING PAIN INTO INSPIRATION AND CATHARSIS."-QUEEN CITY ART AND SOUND

WESTWORD: "WHEN WHITEHEAD WRITES ABOUT LOSS, LOVE AND RESENTMENT, THERE IS A PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL AWARENESS THAT INFORMS THE LYRICS WITH AN UNCOMMON HUMANITY AND COMPASSION THAT TRANSCENDS GENRE. BECAUSE OF THAT AND THE GROUP'S INNOVATIVE SOUNDS AND SONG STRUCTURES, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PIGEONHOLE BISON BONE AS JUST ANOTHER AMERICANA BAND."-WESTWORD

COURTNEY WHITEHEAD (VOCALS/GUITAR), BRIANNA STRAUT (VOCALS/TAMBO), WOLF VAN ELFMAND (LEAD GUITAR/VOCALS), ADAM STERN (PEDAL STEEL/LEAD GUITAR), TONY PISCOTTI (BASS), NEIL MITCHELL (DRUMS).

Claire Heywood

CLAIRE HEYWOOD is a singer-songwriter whose songs feature smoky vocals and "thoughtfully measured lyrics and melodies." (Westword)

A longtime creative writer, Heywood quietly explored the crafts of vocal performance and songwriting for two years before beginning to play sets in small listening rooms, mostly in connection with Colorado's literary / arts scene.

In late 2017, Heywood met producer and studio owner Joshua Olsen at Syntax Physic Opera's open mic. They teamed up to record her first release with a full band, who gathered to record over the course of six months at Third & James Studios.

Heywood released The Wind, It Howls independently in March 2019. 303 Magazine called the record "a deeply personal — yet unequivocally relatable — account of love and loss, redemption and healing."

"Her mature vocals and thoughtfully crafted lyrics make it hard to believe that Heywood has only been seriously pursuing songwriting for the past few years. With such a strong introduction to the music scene, it’s clear that Heywood’s is a voice that refuses to go unnoticed."

The Wind, It Howls in out in all stores now.
