Soulfly's sixth offering for Roadrunner Records, Conquer, may very well be the musical equivalent of the movie Braveheart. The songs –much like the warriors in the film- channel raw, unbridled rage through a cacophony of thrash guitars, infectious grooves, tribal polyrhythms and Max Cavalera's unmistakable, thunderous roar. On this record, Soulfly unleash a metallic mayhem unlike anything they've done previously. Conquer shifts from unrelenting, precise speed metal to slow, brooding doom. Marc Rizzo's lead guitar rips with the precision of a smart bomb, while Bobby Burns grinds out volatile, chest-caving bass lines. Drummer Joe Nunez crushes behind the kit, forging a rhythmic background for all-out sonic war. Once again, it's the legendary Max Cavalera who stands at the eye of the storm, uniting the musical tribe and acting as its unofficial leader. His voice and guitar command the tribe into battle with each line and riff. Grab your war paint and prepare for the onslaught.
All born and raised in PHOENIX , AZ Nathan Bond, Brandon Brimhall, Matt Merisola and Richie Cavalera formed INCITE. Got together to head in a heavier direction from their previous bands. Together they formed the new thrash band out of Shadow Mountain Highschool which they called "INCITE". It began as getting FADED and rockin out and led to a more substantle amount of getting faded and rockin out!!! INCITE has a new EP do out in late FEB. '06 as well as a Rigorous tour scheduale booked up.
The swelling beats of a non-stop dance party and the soaring guitar and melodic triumphs of a cathartic rock experience - equal elements to the live instrumental dance rock of LOTUS. Sending huge crowds into a sweat-drenched euphoria at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Ultra, Rothbury, Nocturnal, All Good and Nateva, the band has become a sought after late-night act. And word has spread as Lotus has packed the country's finest clubs and theaters during their busy touring schedule.
The album Hammerstrike and the two follow-up EPs, Oil on Glass/Feather on Wood, show the multiple sides of Lotus. Slow-building guitar driven compositions complimented by music leaning toward harder beats and electronic textures working together to form a cohesive whole. Always pushing forward, the band has been writing, performing and recording new music throughout the year developing new sounds and expanding their unique musical voice.
The epic light show and pounding beats may be club inspired, but the band's ability to connect with the audience through emotive composition and dynamic improvisation pushes performances past the elusive barrier dividing concert and experience.
