BackFat Variety

BackFat Variety

BackFat is a Time Out Critics' Pick comedic monthly variety show that's been going strong since 2012. It's a mix of actually-good standup, actually-funny music, and not-boring comedic readings.

The show is hosted by Larry Mancini (of the punk band The Tracys—now playing on the radio!) and Emily Winter (writer for NPR's "Ask Me Another," The New Yorker).

Emily Winter

Emily Winter is a writer on NPR's "Ask Me Another" and an NBC Late Night Writers Workshop script judge. She's also written for The New Yorker's Shouts & Murmurs, Glamour, Fusion TV, TV Land, and The Barnes & Noble Review, and has performed at San Francisco SketchFest, The Limestone Festival, Laughing Skull and many others. Emily co-created WHAT A JOKE, an anti-Trump comedy festival that raised more than $50K for The ACLU over inauguration weekend in 2017. Emily hosts and co-produces three live shows: BackFat Variety, Comedy at Rose Gold, and Side Ponytail, is a Midwestern gal who loves cheese curds and fastpitch softball.

Larry Mancini

Larry Mancini is the bassist / banter-ist of the Brooklyn punk band, The Tracys. Their new album, Humdinger, has been described as "out now" by numerous publications.
