Walden and LUTHI

In late 2012, four schoolmates joined together to form something that would become much larger than the sum of its parts. Hailing from Athens, Georgia, Walden emerged as the city’s newest rock sound. The band quickly captured the college town’s attention, taking them from a debut performance at a Pizza Hut to a headline show at the historic Georgia Theatre just two years later.

Comprised of Richard Becker (vocals/guitar), Jamie de Lange (bass), Eric Hangartner (vocals/piano) and Andrew Mendel (drums) the quartet has remained just that ever since. While each share a dream of traveling the world creating music, they are drawn together by a common understanding of what’s truly sacred: the band.

6 years after its inception, Walden has burst onto the scene with many major festival appearances, including two years in a row at Bonnaroo, a main stage performance at Sloss Music & Arts Festival, as well as directly supporting names including Moon Taxi and Twiddle. These four young men have quickly become one of the biggest upcoming musical acts in the southeast, capturing the attention of audiences of all ages with their raw sound, infectious energy, and the undeniable connection they share on stage.

Walden’s new EP, The Static, chronicles the band’s attempt to navigate through the perpetual noise that pervades everyday life in search of something else—something of true purpose and meaning which brings one a sense of truly feeling alive. The Static will be available everywhere April 5th, 2019.

LUTHI routinely brings the party, and it’s a big one. “Boogie Circus” is the most colorful description of their sound so far. “We like the term Cumberland Funk too,” says frontman Christian Luthi, an homage to the river that flows through its Nashville home and a sound that blends the city's often under-appreciated musical history. What’s very evident in talking with (what they call) “The LUTHI Crew” is the shared passion for helping others let loose.

And let loose they will. Traveling in a pack that can be likened to big bands of days gone by, LUTHI has honed in on the one thing that all of them can agree on; “keeping it weird”. Drawing from influences that include soul and R&B acts from the 1960’s, psychedelic funk and groove from the 70’s, and New Wave rock and roll from the 80’s. LUTHI then turns the ingredients into their own stew of modern dance music, with lyrics and melodies that only continue to open themselves up to listeners with each new spin.

Dot.s is an endeavor to take "dance music" far from where it comfortably rests in its current, popular state. We venture to challenge the status of an art form that began as something primal and turned into something calculated and boring and kinda depressing. Drums, bass, and synthesizers rest in the center of our five-piece arrangement, followed by whatever auxiliary instrumentation feels cozy on top of that. We hope to give you something that is as fun and refreshing as our collective ideology: that sounds can prove-ably change the way people act, and should, thus, be made with obsessive care.
