Chicago born/ LA based singer-songwriter, R E L released a crowd-funded debut EP in 2015 called r.e.l. The young independent artist has amassed over 2 million Spotify streams and a million Youtube views. Since putting out her debut project, R E L has performed at various venues in LA including Chris Douridas (KCRW) & MFG’s School Night at the Bardot, Peppermint Club, The Echo, Resident, BMI Acoustic Lounge, Nitelight, Writer's Block, Dirty Laundry, Satellite and Echo Park Rising, and has seen praise from outlets including Wonderland, Ones to Watch, Atwood, EARMILK, The 405, Huffington Post and Blah Blah Blah Science. She describes her music as EVOCAPOP – a genre the 23 year old singer-songwriter created in 2016…music that makes you think and feel, etymologically derived from "evocative" & “pop”. Her music radiates emotion, embodying evocapop. Described by music tastemakers as a unique fusion of indie dream pop, alternative R&B and electro soul, R E L has conceived a sound unlike any other. R E L 's current project is a 3- side visual album, EVOCAPOP, about self-love. "Surgery", the first single release from Side A of the project, came out November 2nd. "Nanagrams", the second release, came out November 30th with visuals premiering in Ladygunn Magazine. She is releasing Side A of the project in early 2019.

R E L invented her own genre because she believes categories force something (and someone) into a mold. No one fits a mold exactly, it can be dangerous to try or to think you’re supposed to. She "grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. We tried so hard to fit the molds. We hurt ourselves, hated ourselves, f*cked ourselves over...(she) did it for a long time. It hurt...and it doesn't just exist in suburbs. We do it everywhere. Music is medicine. It’s powerful. Love heals, melody carries, lyrics speak the heart."
