Lost Bayou Ramblers
The Grammy award winning Lost Bayou Ramblers’ evolution as a perversely progressive band rooted in Cajun traditions continues to excite, challenge, and redefine both genre expectations as well as cultural preconceptions. Founded in 1999 by brothers Andre and Louis Michot, the last 5 years have brought LBR a feature on Jack White’s American Epic, score contributions to the Oscar nominated film Beasts of the Southern Wild, a Grammy award for their latest album "Kalenda" and tours with both Arcade Fire and the Violent Femmes. Lost Bayou Ramblers stands at the crosscurrents of Louisiana culture by inhabiting the gray area between Cajun and Creole, convention and innovation, mystery and a revelation, experimenting and growing the show to what it's become today: an eclectic mix of modern sounds and rhythms with ancient Cajun melodies and lyrics. World Café says “The Grammy-winning group plays a revved-up version of Cajun music, shot through with punk energy and psychedelic fuzz.”

After THE POGUES finally called it a day, founding member SPIDER STACY who was living in New Orleans, asked Louis Michot if LOST BAYOU RAMBLERS would be interested in taking Pogues songs and stamping their own brand of Cajun Psych on them, something he’d been thinking about since first seeing the band back in 2011 and recognising them for force of nature they are.
They were, and in 2015 POGUETRY was born, first rehearsals at the magical Dockside Studios in Maurice, LA and then a sold out One Eyed Jacks in the French Quarter, New Orleans. Since then they’ve played Jazz Fest, Festival Internationale, Christmas shows every year in New Orleans and taken various barbecue-smoke, go-kart diesel fume-drenched jaunts around the South. Last year they bought original Pogues bassist CAIT O’RIORDAN into the fold for added fun and glamour. The gig before the Brooklyn Bowl is at El Sidos, Lafayette, La., the oldest Zydeco club in the world. Founded in 1985, it’s not quite as old as the Pogues but it’s getting there!
