In late 2012, four schoolmates joined together to form something that would become much larger than the sum of its parts. Hailing from the musical mecca of Athens, Georgia, Walden emerged as the cityâs newest rock sound. The band quickly captured the college townâs attention, taking them from a debut performance at a Pizza Hut to a headline show at the historic Georgia Theatre just two years later.
Comprised of Richard Becker (vocals/guitar), Jamie de Lange (bass), Eric Hangartner (vocals/piano) and Andrew Mendel (drums) the quartet has remained just that ever since. While each share a dream of traveling the world creating music, they are drawn together by a common understanding of whatâs truly sacred: the band.
6 years after its inception, Walden has burst onto the scene with many major festival appearances, including two years in a row at Bonnaroo, a main stage performance at Sloss Music & Arts Festival, as well as directly supporting names including Moon Taxi and Twiddle. These four young men have quickly become one of the biggest upcoming musical acts in the southeast, capturing the attention of audiences of all ages with their raw sound, infectious energy, and the undeniable connection they share on stage.
2019 already looks to be the biggest year yet for Walden. In addition to announcing their new EP, The Static, they are slated to play Shaky Knees Music Festival and Kaaboo Del Mar Fest, followed by a subsequent headlining tour in April and May.
Waldenâs new EP, The Static, chronicles the bandâs attempt to navigate through the perpetual noise that pervades everyday life in search of something else -- something of true purpose and meaning which brings one a sense of truly feeling alive. The Static will be available everywhere April 5th, 2019.
TAME, the Aspiring Me
Andrew âTAME, The Aspiring Meâ Davis, son of the late Houston Hip Hop legend Big Mello, is a quick-witted emcee from the suburb of Mo City, TX. His passion for creating ambiance-induced, feel-good music for the masses peaked when he was gifted a Casio keyboard as a child. The Aspiring Me perfected his craft as an all-around artist despite having a rhyme book confiscated by his high school principal whom cited it as being a terroristic threat. This incident catapulted âLil Melloâsâ journey into the Houston underground Hip Hop scene. Following the success of his self-titled 2013 LP, The Aspiring Me, Complex Magazine listed the project #8 of their 10 Best Houston Rap Mixtapes of 2013. The Aspiring Meâs growth can be heard via his discography which includes The Mello Campaign, The Mello Campaign Pt. 2, A.D.D. The N.E.R.D., The Aspiring Me EP & LP, OK, WHATEVER, 98 BRIARGATE & 11 ALMEDA, AND MOST RECENTLY YOU MIGHT LIKE THIS. Determined to be the best he continues to hone his skills by touring across North America from The Hamptons to Montreal to New York City and performing at multiple music festivals such as SXSW in Austin and Brooklynâs Juicy Art Fest. When asked about the vision of his music, TAME states: "I want people to have fun and to know itâs ok to be themselves. When people hear my music I want them to say âDamn, Iâve been there.â Iâm sharing my story, influences, and outlook on life, and if it turns out there may be someone else that feels the same way I want to know them and be friends."
RĂY & the Echoes
Contradictions have always been a part of Indie singer-songwriter Roy Halimâs journey. A first-generation American son of Muslim Albanian immigrants, Roy should feel like the quintessential outsider. Instead, he focuses on creating a sense of community, providing inspiration and connectedness for his listeners. With a bold and raw, yet soft and polished sound, mixing bravado with subtle restraint, his head actually sings with his heart. Think of Chester Bennington and Morrissey, and add a contradictory hint of Ed Sheeran - Royâs that unique.
