Tessa Skara: Rock Goddess

Tessa Skara: Rock Goddess

Featuring a live band, Tessa Skara: Rock Goddess is one part comedy special, one part rock concert hosted by the new queen of comedy rock.

You might know Tessa as a Comedy Central Comic to Watch with her former sketch group Pop Roulette, from her sold out monthly show High Notes, or from her performances at Joe’s Pub, Ars Nova, and Union Hall, but you probably didn’t know that Tessa is also: a Rock Goddess. Finally, the self-proclaimed Courtney Love of Comedy is back for the first and last night of her world tour, join her as she queers rock n roll with original songs and stand up about how gay Jesus was, leaving her husband to seduce women in her feminist book club, and how selfish it is for your therapist to go on maternity leave.

“[Tessa Skara] lights NYC ablaze with her hard-rock aesthetic, scathing original musical songs and white-hot star power.“ — Time Out New York

Tessa Skara is a comedian, musician, and (in the words of her middle school bully Ashley) a weird bitch. Tessa's comedic performances have been featured at The Public Theater, Joe’s Pub, The Bell House, Littlefeild, The Annoyance, The Brooklyn Comedy Festival, and Every Shitty Gay Bar In Brooklyn. Her solo rock cabaret, Rock Goddess, was recently featured at Ars Nova and The Duplex. Tessa was a part of the musical sketch group Pop Roulette, with whom she was named one of Comedy Central's Comics to Watch in 2015, performed at sketch festivals around North America, and whose musical "Amazing Earth" ran for a year at UCBT Chelsea. You can see Tessa as a drunk girl in HBO's "Crashing," a coke head in the “The Detour” and hopefully a heroin addict in a feature film sometime soon.
