Gooch and the Motion

Gooch and the Motion

Self described as ‘rusted-dirt’, Gooch’s music looks toward the future by fusing a number of different genres–including rock, country, blues, soul and hip hop–into cohesive and moving songs. His passion, love, and medicinal usages of music for conveying his thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc. are portrayed via the genre that’s most appropriate.

Matter is an electronic music ensemble fronted by sound designer and guitarist, David Koltai. Performing original compositions and covers that span the gamut of American musical tradition, Matter slips from smoldering blues and acid jazz into space rock and surf instrumentals propelled by energetic vocals, textural guitar pyrotechnics and a virtuoso rhythm section. Matter’s concerts are laced with feel-good grooves and lyrical songs that reflect the hope of finding joy in the journey of life’s winding road.

Matter has featured all-star rhythm sections including virtuoso drummers Billy Rymer (Dillinger Escape Plan) and Will Calhoun (Living Colour) as well as electric bass icons Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon) and Doug Wimbish (Living Colour).

Front-man and guitarist David Koltai is best known for his award-winning musical instrument work as the design chief for Supro and Pigtronix, including an ongoing collaboration with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead. Koltai’s musical credits include sound design for Paul Simon’s 2016 Stranger to Stranger album as well as touring experience supporting Hip Hop pioneer, Kurtis Blow.
