"That's just one example of the type of collaborations in store at the Grand Ole Echo, whose definition of Americana is much more wide-ranging and diverse than its Nashville namesake, booking everything from southern rock to psychedelic alt-country to bluegrass to old fashioned honkytonk." - Jonathan Bernstein, American Songwriter
The Echo Park crowd knock back longnecks and listen to bands that can include (former) local fixture, Mike Stinson,or former members of the Blasters. Members of Wilco, and The Black Crowes have been known to show up and even take the stage.” - Los Angeles Magazine
“Sunday afternoons, put a kick in God’s day with the Grand Ole Echo, a downhome celebration with three live bands plus and old-timey jam and bbq on the back patio.” - The Pasadena Weekly
A raw, Southern rock-outlaw vibe, with the storytelling of classic Country. With high energy-boot stompin tunes, to ballads that make you cry.
Rob Leines' music originated in the Southeast within the Appalachian Mountains. With the influence of Country, Rock and Roll, and Blues, his unique Americana sound was born on the hills of Tennessee. Soon after Leines expanded to the west. While welding and metal working for the oil and gas industry along the pacific coast, Rob's music took on a more raw and gritty side. The blue collar lifestyle and southern roots make for a genuine representation of the American songwriter through his music. The Rob Leines Band is a fresh sound, with a rowdy charisma and attitude that country rock needs. Debut album “Bad Seed” out now.
Maesa is a Beachwood Canyon native. Her songs are much like the spirits that reside in those hills... haunting, dream-like stories written with striking truthfulness and sung with a dusty soulfulness which will slay your heart. When she gets with her band she not only woos but rocks too. Get ready.
Rock n Roll from Venice, CA
Nicholas Mudd Band
Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Nicholas Mudd is a Los Angeles based singer songwriter. Influenced by old school country and rock 'n' roll as well as the traditional folk and bluegrass of his home state, the Nicholas Mudd Band plays upbeat honky tonkin' “California Country.”
Ashleigh Flynn & the Riveters
Ashleigh Flynn grew up in Kentucky and cut her teeth on local bluegrass music. She arrived on the national scene in 2008 with the release of her third record, American Dream, and continues playing national and international stages with the release of A Million Stars (2013). A prolific songwriter, Ashleigh is also an electrifying performer blessed with unbridled charisma. Ashleigh has performed at many a music festival including Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, Falcon Ridge Folk and High Sierra. A Million Stars, Ashleigh's fourth studio effort on her own Home Perm Records, is produced by Chris Funk, her longtime friend and musical collaborator, best-known as the Decemberists' multi-instrumentalist. The record features Todd Snider and many of Portland's most talented musicians including, Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee-Drizos, Nate Query, John Moen, Annalisa Tornfelt, and the Stolen Sweets singers, among others. She has also traveled the globe regularly warming tours for Todd Snider and Nanci Griffith, among others.
A Million Stars continues the inspired narrative Flynn began on earlier records with tales deeply rooted in the American experience. The most profound seed of inspiration for the new record was a watercolor painted by her young niece depicting a cowgirl atop her horse under a starry desert sky. Who was this girl so confidently astride her mount? Discovering the painting led her on a quest to learn more about the women of the westward expansion, unnamed heroes that history had largely overlooked.
"Flynn's best attributes: a soulful croon best described as a gold-plated gift from beyond, a songwriter's eye for detail and narrative that captures the humanity and hope in the lives of our fair city's various down-and-outers …" - Douglas Perry, The Oregonian
