THE LEGEND OF THE STARDUST BROTHERS Double-Feature

THE LEGEND OF THE STARDUST BROTHERS Double-Feature

In 1985, Macoto Tezuka, son of manga legend Osamu Tezuka, met musician and TV personality Haruo Chicada who had recently recorded a soundtrack to an imaginary film he called THE LEGEND OF THE STARDUST BROTHERS. Macoto was just 22 years old at the time, a film student with many experimental shorts under his belt, and with Chicada as producer he decided to make STARDUST BROTHERS a reality.

With inspiration from cult favorites PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE and THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, Tezuka assembled an all-star cast of musicians, manga creators, and upcoming film directors (including Kiyoshi Kurosawa) with the result being one of the country's quintessential cult movies. The film is virtually unknown outside of Japan, but thanks to the UK's Third Window Films, western audiences finally have the chance to freak out over this underseen gem.

Flash forward 30 years to 2015. Macoto, now an established film director, decides to revisit the joy of his feature debut and thus THE BRAND NEW LEGEND OF THE STARDUST BROTHERS was born. The musical duo from the original film, played by the same actors, reunite to recapture their glory days via a journey to the Moon to find the soul of rock. This film has never been screened outside of Japan...until now!
