Abdu Ali

Born and raised in Baltimore, Abdu Ali is an is an independent musician, writer, and an interdisciplinary curator. Working in a genre they call “Post-Futuristic,” their music draws from jazz, soul, rap, and punk, to interrogate ideas of identity as well as narrate and promote individual and collective liberation from oppressive ideologies and systems. Unapologetically Black and queer, Abdu Ali’s work is bold, raw, and most importantly life-affirming.
In 2018, they performed at MoMA PS1, the Kennedy Center, Hopscotch Festival, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. In that year, they was invited to both the Red Bull Bass Camp and the Pioneer Works residencies.
