Brave The Sea
Celtic Rock from Newark, Ohio
Brave The Sea started out in 2015 as A Pirate's Life. As APL, the band quickly started learning covers and writing originals for upcoming shows.
Over the following months, APL played some local shows and released their EP featuring seven of their originals.
After that, things really picked up pace when they started playing more shows and writing more tunes. After a slight lineup change, the band began to shift its focus toward a broader image and range of music. So, despite the efforts of Facebook, they set out to change their name to Brave The Sea and reestablish themselves with a more serious (ish) focus.
In 2017 the band built up a lot of momentum. It saw the release of their first album "A Pirates Life", which has taken off on Spotify, and also get invited to play their first large festival, Summerfest, which was a blast.
While Brave The Sea still carries on the antics of their A Pirate's Life days, the band has grown a lot musically and internally. They are setting sail to take over the world, one sea at a time!
Brave The Sea is:
Vito Gambill - Vocals
Matt Toskin - Vocals, mandolin, guitar
Will John AKA Grandpa - Accordion, Vocals (dying animal noises)
Matt Bibler - Guitar
Dennis Berendts - Drums
Ryan Boggs - Bass, Vocals
We’re a four-piece band from Midwest Ohio. We're all college dropouts and we’re not fond of rules. We like to play by our own. We play for others who see and do things differently. The ones who also like to play by their own rules. Although there may be few of us...long live Rock 'N" Roll!
The Scratches give a fresh feel to a classic sound. Formed in Columbus, Ohio by veterans of the local punk scene, The Scratches quickly combined their individual strengths to develop a sound that is both original and nostalgic. They rely on catchy melodies and all the familiar tropes of 1990s pop punk, while delivering unexpected melodic bass lines, sudden tempo changes, and vocals that seamlessly flow between dynamic singers.
The Scratches have played several high profile shows in Ohio, including Hell City Tattoo Festival, Columbus Pride Festival, Columbus Community Festival (ComFest), and Vans Warped Tour.
Currently their lineup features past members of great Columbus bands such as The Hellbound Truckers, The Girls!, The Tommyguns, and The Suicide Ghouls, among others. You can't go wrong with The Scratches. Be ready to sing along!
