Charlie Kogen was born in Los Angeles, California in 2001, and ever since he curiously struck his first chord on his parents’ upright piano at the tender age of three, Charlie has followed his heart and his musical ears in many directions.
First and foremost, Charlie has written dozens of songs, and he has performed his original songs at school events, parties, and local clubs. One of his songs, “You Make Me Smile”, was featured on Nickelodeon’s School of Rock. Charlie is currently in 12th grade at Harvard-Westlake School, where he serves as student director for the Harvard-Westlake Jazz Singers, is musical director for the Harvard-Westlake Outreach Performers, and plays piano in the Jazz Explorers,
Harvard-Westlake’s top jazz combo, often playing his original compositions. Charlie is also a 2018 and 2019 YoungArts Winner in Voice, and recently went to Miami for National YoungArts Week, where he was one of five finalists in the Singer-Songwriter category. His goal is to write, produce, and perform music professionally, and he has plans to record his first album this summer.
