Birmingham, AL – The first edition of the Sonic Visions Music Documentary Festival opens on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019. Each edition of the festival focuses on new, classic, and relatively unknown music documentaries following a curated theme. In this first edition, the focus is on gender, sexuality, and their representation in the music industry in the twentieth century. Following that thread, three films have been chosen – about a female electronic music pioneer, the history of LGBTQ+ musicians, and a controversial international pop star.
