Suicide Commando

Johan Van Roy, Suicide Commando's only member, began experimenting with electronic music in 1986. Three years later, he released his first tape under the moniker Suicide Commando, and made an appearance on the vinyl compilation, Electronic. As Van Roy continued self-releasing tapes, he landed more compilation appearances on Rotation II and Induktion, Varianz und Deren Folgen, both released by Kugelblitz records.

1994 finally saw Suicide Commando's first CD, Critical Stage, released on the German label Off-Beat. Shortly after. in 1995, Suicide Commando released Stored Images, which contains to date one of van Roy's most popular songs, See You in Hell.

1996 was the ten-year anniversary of Suicide Commando, and with it came the release of Contamination, as well as the limited boxed version, which contained a bonus 3" compact disc featuring previously unreleased material. Contamination was released a year later in North America by the now defunct Electronic Death Trip records.

In 1998, Suicide Commando released the album Construct-Destruct and its sister release, Reconstruction including new clubhits like Desire and Better Off Dead, the former of which was picked up by Possessive Blindfold Records for distribution in North America with bonus tracks.

Van Roy was one of the founders of the Dependent Records label in 1999. It was on this new label that Suicide Commando's next successfull releases, two singles and one EP: Hellraiser, Comatose Delusion, and Love Breeds Suicide, accompanied Suicide Commando's 2000 release, Mindstrip, which reached the number one spot on the Deutsche Alternative Charts. Later the Mindstrip album also was licensed and released in North America by Metropolis Records.

In 2002 Suicide Commando release the DCD Anthology on Dependent Records, a compilation of the best and biggest suicide commando hits up so far, including all clubhits like "hellraiser", "see you in hell", "love breeds suicide" ... and offering some exclusive new remixes and rare versions.

For Suicide Commando's next release, Axis of Evil, a special edition double single called Face of Death was released beforehand, selling out in two days. The regular edition of the single continues to sell, and Axis of Evil was voted album of the year (2003) by the Deutsche Alternative Charts. In 2004 Suicide Commando released another limited edition double single, Cause of Death: Suicide + One Nation under God.

In 2006, Suicide Commando returns with the album Bind, Torture, Kill (also available as limited edition including a bonus disc, poster and sticker), featuring the single Godsend + Menschenfresser, released on Johan's own new label Noise Terror Productions, a new division of Dependent Records. The album once again reached the top position in several alternative charts across the world and got voted album of the month in the german Orkus magazine.

Released in 2007, one year after the band's 20th anniversary, the X20 boxset including 3 CDs (one remix CD, one best of CD and the Fuck You Bitch EP) and Suicide Commando's very first live DVD. The special remix CD and the best of album were later released as separate discs by Metropolis Records. End of 2007 Suicide Commando return with the song Hate me, their first new material since the bind torture kill album, released on the noise terror volume 2 sampler on NTP/Dependent.

In 2008 Suicide Commando start working on brandnew material for their upcoming EP and new album.

In May 2009 Suicide Commando announced that he signed with Out Of Line to release his stuff in Europe.

The Mexican group Hocico was officially formed in 1993 by Erk Aicrag (lyrics & vocals) and Racso Agroyam (synthesizer, programming). The names are ananyms of the real names Erik Garcia and Oscar Mayorga. Both cousins had been experimenting with electronic music, mixing Industrial and EBM, since they were fifteen years old and formed a band in 1992 called Hocico de Perro. The first live gig of Hocico was on February 18, 1994. Their music can be described as dark and aggressive electro-industrial. Their lyrics are mostly English although some songs are in Spanish.
The Spanish word 'hocico' means snout and is a derogatory term that indicates ugliness (i.e., ugly as a dog's snout).

Hard-hitting yet elegant, SHIV-R is the monstrously seductive project of Australian-born musicians Pete Crane and Ben Lee Bulig. The band forge a unique aural and visual aesthetic, creating a world of fear, aggression and self-expression to confront the shadows within ourselves.

In 2010, SHIV-R’s debut album “Hold My Hand” established the band as a new industrial force, fueled by harsh electronics and encompassed by haunting, neoclassical sonic tendrils, with hits such as “Parasite” and “The End” becoming clubfloor staples the world over. In 2011, the 2nd full-length album “This World Erase” extended the band’s sonic arsenal with the dramatic, depth-charged groove of “Incision”, the slow, grinding dirge of “This Fix” and a more evolved lyrical approach attacking themes such as nihilism, the romanticisation of abuse and above all waging a war on apathy. The band’s provocative live show has also been hitting festival stages worldwide including Kinetik (CA), Infest (UK), Summer Darkness (NL) and Nocturnal Culture Night (DE).

Now, SHIV-R return with a new EP entitled “Shadow Between Worlds”. Through 5 brand new tracks including collaborations with fellow harsh provocateurs Surgyn and industrial brothers-in-arms AR12, the band continue to explore the space between the explosively energetic and the emotively captivating. The EP also includes a fistful of high-powered remixes by Noisuf-X, SAM, Skyla Vertex, Distorted Memory and Sigue Sigue Sputnik electronic. Following on from “This World Erase”‘s themes of rejecting and destroying the world with which we are presented, the new EP explores an existence without the gilded trappings of an apathetic society. A void of creation; a Shadow Between Worlds.

Tired of the same old EBM beats and electro bass lines? Looking for a touch of the experimental on the dance floor of your favorite club? CYLAB is here to answer your prayers. Formed in 1999, Cylab is based on the foundations of dark electronic music and intermingling various styles and structures that defy strict categorization. Now in 2010, the band releases its third, most diverse and most accessible record: Cut & Coil! Furthering the band's trademark blend of dark electro, synthesized melody, and intelligent sound design as demonstrated by the dance floor stomp of "Skin," the mix of glitchy industrial and somber piano on "Cocoon," and the breakneck punk-like speed of "Trigger," and featuring a frenetic remix by post-industrial IDM act Totakeke, Cut & Coil is Cylab's most energetic and musically frenzied album to date; no less melodic and no less experimental, simultaneously fulfilling the needs of any rivethead club-goer and any explorer of sound and atmosphere.

Already recognized in Europe as being among the elite of classically trained pianists, and having lent his remixing and production talents to such artists as Collide, Atomica, and Agonized by Love, as well as playing live bass with New York glam rock act Acey Slade, Percy Trayanov's method with Cylab is a unique one that incorporates all his musical and production skills to bring elements of experimental sound design into melodic song structures that are as mysterious as they are enticing. Varying modes of electronic music - from the intricately controlled chaos of IDM to the dance floor friendly simplicity of EBM and the atmospheric chill of ambient - all come together in Trayanov's compositions. While a capable vocalist, Trayanov needed an element that would allow the lyrical magick to manifest...this came in the form of vocalist SeVerina X Sol. As a founding member, lead vocalist, and co-producer of renowned underground act Diva Destruction, in which she was widely recognized by artists and press alike, and as the lead vocalist in coldwave/electro act Fockewolf for five years, SeVerina X Sol brings an unparalleled emotional core to Cylab's music without which the power of the songs would be diminished. At once cold and distant, warm and inviting, her hypnotic voice complements the airy, eerie ambience of Trayanov's compositions, acting as much as another instrumental component and a lyrical relay for the musical balance between destruction and creation. Adding to this brew of industrialized darkwave is live percussionist Dre Robinson - a.k.a. Databomb. An alumni of such groups as CTC, Noisebox, and most recently Skinny Puppy, Databomb's percussive contributions bring yet an even more organic element to Trayanov's synthetic atmospheres, which in tandem with X Sol's voice balances the human element in Cylab's dark electronic compositions.

Cylab went on to release Unparallel Universe in 2004 on Seattle label A.D.S.R. Musicwerks. The album, produced by Wade Alin of Chicago's Christ Analogue, featured the first examples of the band's mix of melodic electro and dark IDM-inspired song structures, creating a vibe not dissimilar to the more experimental works of Haujobb and Android Lust. The 2006 follow up of Satellites found the band continuing further down this exploratory path, as evident in the offbeat rhythms, expansive sonic landscapes, and despairing lyrical ambience of such songs as "Satellites," "Parting Fields," and "Tides." Satellites also marked the band's first release on their own Whispercore Music label, followed by the 2007 remix album Disseminate, which featured remixes by such luminaries of the underground electro/industrial scene as Haujobb, Combichrist, Imperative Reaction, and Interface. Disseminate also featured a mesmerizing cover of Nirvana's hit song "Heart Shaped Box," transforming the original's grungy angst into a blistering electronic display of dark melody and dance floor aggression. Since the band's inception, Cylab has performed alongside such prominent and diverse acts as And One, Covenant, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, as well as appearing at the 2007 Eccentrik Festival with The Gothsicles, The Last Dance, and Meg Lee Chin. With the release of Cut & Coil in 2010, Cylab stands ready to take its place alongside the top bands in the electro/industrial underground with a sound that is as accessible as it is adventurous.

Southern California's W.A.S.T.E. is a rhythmic noise (Powernoise) band founded in 2003, in San Diego.
W.A.S.T.E. is an acronym for "We All Seek Total Entropy".

ESA was born in 2002 in order to cross the threshold from one genre of extreme music to another. Engineer of this electronic inferno, Jamie Blacker, up until this point had been writing music semi-professionally for years in the UK Black / Death metal circle, touring and recording alongside some of the genres elite.

Having decided to experiment in dark electronics, ESA’s heavy, rhythmic style has since become rooted at the forefront of the harsh industrial / power electronics scene, predominantly owing to slews of powerful and engaging live shows all over the globe and 7 well received, critically acclaimed albums.

Taking influences initially from rhythmical noise acts, Blacker’s sound structures have developed and integrated countless influences from the broad spectrum of alternative and extreme music. The tone of ESA is harsh and oppressive, dripping with destructive and corroded grooves whilst still emanating deep melody and a strong sense of spirituality. ESA’s compositions are undoubtedly threatening and offensive floor stomping club tunes but also twist and churn enough to reward more attentive listening.

ESA’s last major release, ‘Penance’ (WTII Records), marked a finale to Blacker’s ‘Themes’ trilogy which has proven to have become one of the most respected and complete bodies of work in the scene.

With an ambitious EP release imminent and a bold, adventurous new album in the works, ESA is dissolving the borders within genres and making a claim of stylistic independence within the dark electronics scene.

ESA is Electronic Substance Abuse!

Mexican dark electro project.

Hate Dept.

Started in 1991 in Los Angeles by frontman (Steven) Seibold who was previously the singer for a band called Cupid Falling which was a more electronic version of what is now the Hate Dept sound. After that band never seemed to get off the ground, they then reformed as Hate Dept. and have been creating industrial with a punk attitude ever since starting with their first release Meat Your Maker on 21st Circuitry. Seibold has also produced for the likes of Berlin and Information Society and done remixes for Smash Mouth (Walkin On The Sun-Love Attacks Mix)as well as singing for a short time for the band STG (Screaming To God).

Solo project of the keyboard player / producer of the band NamNamBulu.

When musical talent, having a knack for melodies and success in the synthpop section meet up with the wish of making music which sounds a bit harder, then it’s time to succumb to this wish. And this is why Vasi Vallis brought ‘Reaper’ to life in 2005, a music project which was not supposed to follow the path of the softer sounds of ‘NamNamBulu’ and ‘Frozen Plasma’. Basic idea was, that this project should be fun and not take things too seriously.

While hard beats meet with catchy and earworm-like melodies and combine to a danceable mix, which makes the listener hum long parts of the song, the band's lyrics deal with all the clichés that can be subsumed under the superordinate ‘evil’. The band plays quite obviously with topics such as death, Satan, sex and women, not without a healthy portion of sarcasm. Perfectly fitting to all those clichés, ‘Reapers’ first EP was named ‘Angst’.

With their following debut album ‘Hell starts with an H’, Vasi Vallis was joined by Gregor Beyerle to support ‘Combichrist’ on their tour across Europe that made a lot of people fall in love with their music. Songs like ‘Robuste Maschine’ or ‘X-Junkie’ still fill the dance floors of scene clubs around the world.

By the end of 2007 the EP ‘The Devil is Female’ was released and made it directly to #1 of the DAC (German Alternative Charts). What followed was a tour in conspicuous outfits as well as additional musical support on guitars and drums. All that made ‘Reaper’ play the bigger scene festivals around the world.

After taking a creative break, the band is coming back with a new album in 2015 – of course once again with melodies from hell, pure evil and a huge portion of subliminal humour.

For the first time Vasi Vallis was not the only one being responsible for the production - he asked Gregor Beyerle, live keyboarder of Reaper and longtime friend, musician and producer, to help him create a masterpiece. There’s nothing standing in the way for touring with an interesting new live concept in 2015.

Ego Likeness are an American darkwave/industrial rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. The were formed in 1999 by artist Steven Archer and writer Donna Lynch.

Taking their name from Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel Dune, Ego Likeness began as an experimental/ dark trip hop project. A demo called 'Songs from a Dead City', recorded on a four track and self-produced by Archer and Lynch, was released in 1999.

Archer and Lynch took the project in a darker electronic/ dance direction, resulting in a self-released full length album entitled 'Dragonfly' under EL's own label, Angelfall.

After a short hiatus from recording, a lengthy period of trial, error, revision, and many live performances, Ego Likeness signed with Dancing Ferret Discs for the release of 'Water to the Dead'. This album featured the band's electronic roots while exploring a bit of a heavier rock sound.

Ego Likeness toured Germany, Luxembourg, and the continental US with Dancing Ferret label mates The Crüxshadows, as well as performing at several festivals on the east and west coast, including Convergence 11 (San Diego CA), Dracula's Ball (Philadelphia PA), Black Sun Festival I (New Haven CT), Freaks United (DC), Eccentrik Festival I (Raleigh NC), Dragon Con (Atlanta GA), Ring Con (Fulda, Germany) and others.
