Willy Tea Taylor
Willy Tea Taylor is a father, brother, and son. His remarkable ability to sing about profound subjects in a simple way makes his songs a great place to lose yourself. Much of that comes from his upbringing.
Willy grew up surrounded by rolling hills and horses in the small town of Oakdale, California. Known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World” for breeding so many world champion rodeo cowboys, Oakdale is still Willy’s home and the setting for many of his songs.
At the age of 18, a discerning and intimate set by Greg Brown at the Strawberry Music Festival inspired Willy to pursue life as a folk singer. Strawberry would play an integral role in Willy’s development as a musician, going from spectator to stagehand, to performer. He made his main stage debut with his band the Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit at the 2009 festival. In 2015, Willy made his solo debut on the main stage. Willy has charmed fans at some of the best festivals in the country.
On his new release Knuckleball Prime, Willy received support from greats like Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Greg Leisz (Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton), and Gabe Witcher and Noam Pikelny of the Punch Brothers. Of the album’s title, Taylor says “most baseball players peak in their twenties, but knuckleball pitchers tend to blossom in their late thirties and early forties. I’m staring down my knuckleball prime.”
If you’re a fan of well-written lyrics, alluring melodies, and a voice that ties them together with emotion as deep as the artist’s own roots, you’ll savor Knuckleball Prime, and just about anything else Willy Tea Taylor has ever done.
The Sam Chase & The Untraditional hails from San Francisco, California. This juggernaut of a band blends rock n roll with folk music while maintaining the sensibilities and attitudes that come from growing up on a healthy diet of punk rock.
The leader of the band is The Sam Chase himself, a natural storyteller with a voice that sounds as if it has weathered many an epic tale. With boot stomping orchestration and lyrics that have been immortalized on the tattooed skin of their fans, The Sam Chase & The Untraditional doesn’t mess around.
These are the warriors we need in these troubled times.
Tipping their hat to you from Shaky Town Northeast, CB Brand has been living up to it's
moniker as "The Loch Ness Monster of Country Rock Outfits" for years now: appearing
through the foam in grainy photos and sound recordings while reeling apologues bandied
about in the bars and living rooms of regional hamlets. They've dusted floors and stages
up and down the Golden State and Great Basin, releasing the maidenhead "Cloud EP" 7"
on Wonder Valley Records in 2006 and more recently a cassette only eponymous release
on NYC's Whip Records and wide soundtrack acreage in Calvin Lee Reeder's cinematic
fiesta "The Rambler". Folks are still raving about the Big Sur New Year's Eve 2016-17
three hour marathon dance party that had the Fernwood Resort hanging it from the rafters!
With Chadwick Brown vocally/rhythmically steering the group of Sean Hoffman on guitar,
Kip Boardman on bass/keys, and Steve Didelot on drums, the band slides across the
spectrum of Americana Country and Boogie Rock Music akin to the little amber lamp on
an old Wonderbar radio leading down the road to the sparkling river of the lost weekend
ahead. Peppered in with original classics, including the California regional hit "Let's Go
Get Stoned" and the favorite-in-Kuala Lumpur "She Came With The Whiskey", CB Brand's
set will flip through a well stocked rock and roll-odex to work out a few hand-tooled
versions of songs from backcountry waypoints on the musical map and on down the road
to that Stuckey's glowing in the distance...
