A new band has formed and it is a beautiful thing. Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits and Jacob Bergson of Nerve, two keyboardists from leading exploratory electro-jazz live bands are coming together with bass prodigy Felix Pastorius, Antibalas saxophonist Morgan Price and band leader and funky drummer, Adam Chase.
On January 10, 2019 at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn New York The DAB Sessions will be partaking in a special blend of drum and bass infused electro dance music with exploratory jazz and funk.
Jacob Bergson is the multi talented keyboardist and producer for the world renown electronic band, NERVE. NERVE is a band led by famed masterful drummer JoJo Mayer that formed out of underground parties hosted by JoJo Mayer that led the way for electronic music to be performed on live instruments.
Bergson began his work with NERVE as a recording engineer before becoming the main keyboardist, producer and electronic wizard for the band. His versality and proficiency in jazz, electronic and pop music paired with this skills as a producer makes Jacob Bergson one of the most inventive musicians in the scene.
Aron Magner has been on the forefront of the electronic music scene since it first began to grow. As the keyboardist and founding member of The Disco Biscuits, Magner has been instrumental in the growing popularity of electronic music being performed by highly proficient live musicians.
From starting his studies at 13 years old in classical music to discovering jazz and eventually fusing it with electronic improvisational jam rock, Magner is no stranger to any musical situation.
Now with The Disco Biscuits holding a solid place in their place in music history, Magner has helped curate his bands music festival, Camp Bisco which has attracted tens of thousands of fans. The Disco Biscuits fanbase has helped Magner launch sides projects like Conspirator, Electron and perform with Bill Kreutzmann’s band, Billy & The Kids.
With his signature style and approach to live electronic performances, Magner joined The DAB Sessions for the New York City debut at Brooklyn Bowl.
When many people hear Felix Pastorius perform there are reasonable and obvious preconceived notions and expectations being that he is playing the same instrument as his legendary bass playing father, Jaco Pastorius. While the appreciation of the seemingly genetic talent is obvious, it is also obvious that Felix has put the time in to achieve his own voice on the instrument.
This became apparent at a young age as Felix’s talent were recognized when he joined Weather Report percussionist Bobby Thomas, Jr. on the road at 15 years old. By the age of 19 Pastorius connected with famous bass guitarist Victor Wooten which led Felix to his long standing gig with Dave Matthews Band saxophonist Jeff Coffin in his band The Mu’tet, which he started back in his days with Bela Fleck and The Flecktones.
As Felix has worked to master the 4 string bass, 5 string bass and 6 string bass, his talents have been recognized and he has earned stints with the Grammy Winning jazz band The Yellowjackets, former Lenny Kravitz drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, jazz drummer of The Headhunters, Mike Clark, The Chase Brothers and Onyx Collective.
Felix Pastorius brings a musical mastery to The DAB Sessions that is complementary in both groove and melody, with an ability to inspire musicians and music fans alike.
Adam Chase is a drummer that is multi-faceted and the visionary behind The DAB Sessions. Chase is a multi instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriting music director that entered the world of drums in the 1st grade when he had the opportunity to see a young Tony Royster Jr. make mastering the drums look easy.

Over the past few years Chase has been curating All Star Collaborations celebrating the music of legends like James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone, drawing the support and participation from members of The James Brown Band and The Family Stone.

The literal definition of Escaper is "one who escapes confinement". Named an "On the Verge" artist by Relix Magazine, this Brooklyn-based space rock band strives for sounds and grooves without limits.
Escaper’s live shows are known for keeping the funky dance parties going strong. You may have caught the band at festivals such as DiscJam (where they were joined on stage by members of Turkuaz), Elements, Bear’s Picnic, as well as headlining Grateful for Spring. They have played venues across the Northeast ranging from BRYAC to Brooklyn Bowl, and shared bills with such acts as Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Electric Beethoven, The Mallett Brothers Band feat Jon Fishman, Cabinet, Aqueous, Jimkata, and more. Prior to joining Escaper, members of the band came from various other groups such as Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds and The Funk Ark, having performed at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Catskill Chill and more.
The band released their first album, “Skeleton Key” with Ropeadope Records in May 2017 to critical acclaim including being named one of three "Release Day Picks" by JamBase. Live for Live Music said, “Their sound is a reckoning force of funky fusion music...there’s no telling how high this band can climb."
The 2nd album, “Edge Detection” was recorded at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, and released in February 2018. Their live sets tend to be open with many in-the-moment improvisational aspects, and this essence was not lost during the studio recordings. Bandleader and guitarist, Will Hanza, expresses, “The term ‘jam’ can be a loaded one, but the idea of having some concrete ideas, while still allowing the music to be open to take advantage of the moment is really important to us.”
“With multifaceted, oftentimes soaring jams, Escaper’s opening set of tunes set a groovy and rocking vibe for the rest of the evening.” - Jambase (regarding opening for The Mallett Brothers, featuring Jon Fishman of Phish, at Brooklyn Bowl on 4/12/18).
"A mind blowing set filled with psychedelic guitar virtuosity, tight grooves, and impressive musicianship." - The Jamwich
“This up-and-coming juggernaut blends together effortlessly with each member adding his own unique flavor. The band’s music alone draws you in, but it’s their connection to it and to each other that truly completes the package. Their passion oozes out of each and every note they play as they seamlessly take turns controlling the stage.” - Music Fest News
