AJ Frondelli Quartet

Alex Frondelli is a guitarist from Long Island, New York. He began playing guitar at the age of ten and began to pursue music seriously in high school once joining marching band. Under the direction of music educator Bill Katz and world class guitarist Steve Salerno, he grew to love Jazz music and made it his main focus. Upon entering the SUNY Purchase Conservatory, his teachers have included Vic Juris, Jon Faddis, John Riley, Ralph Lalama and Gary Smulyan. His playing has been influenced by John Coltrane, Ambrose Akinmusire, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Woody Shaw, and most of all the high energy of the New York jazz scene. Alex strives to maintain his own musical voice and maintain taste, while still supporting the other musicians around him. Alex has performed as a leader at clubs such as Birdland, Tomi Jazz, ShapeShifter Lab, and has performed at the Johnson City Jazz Festival in Tennessee.
