Mark Klaver is an American up-and-coming singer-songwriter born in Brooklyn, and raised in Suffern, NY. In addition to being a two-time Semi-Finalist in the Paramount Songwriting Competition, Klaver has collaborated and performed with various artists and talents including Sean Hurwitz, know best for being the current lead guitarist for Enrique Iglesias, as well as the band “Smash Mouth”. Mark is also a Quintuplet (1 of 5 born at the same time!). Klaver was born into a musical family, and so quickly became a “part of the band”. With Disney music flowing through his home, Klaver has many musical influences such as Phil Collins and Alan Menken, as well as other major talents such as Billy Joel, Tom Chapin, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz. It is through his influences that Klaver learned to “ put his heart on paper”, and at the age of 9 began to write music of his own. Since He was young, Klaver Was singing, writing, performing, and playing a variety of instruments. It was not until the age of 14, however, that he bought his first guitar and started working towards his dream; to show his songs to the world and reach their hearts with his music.
When Little Slugger step on stage they deliver energetic rock and roll with “rowdy appeal, worth experiencing again and again.” (Seven Days) Built on imaginative arrangements, howling vocals, and driving horn lines, the five-piece Burlington, Vermont band writes songs that are at once intricate and raucous. Featuring members/former members of Busted Brix, You Know Ono, Eastern Mountain Time, and Paper Castles, the band is a versatile crew that has worked hard at their craft and become familiar faces in the Burlington music (and bar) scene. Little Slugger’s sound leads off somewhere around alt-country, rounds second base with the mayhem of garage rock and grunge, and brings it all home with big hooks and originality that are “equal parts twang and crunch”. (Seven Days)
NYC rock/stoner metal band.
word rock from Brooklyn.
Terry brings the melodic, Maureen brings the droning tone and Dave brings the ever-busy rhythms.
First impressions have led people to ask, ‘what brings these 3 very different individuals together?’
They have one thing in common - a firm belief that rock and roll should be scrappy and a little untidy.
Underpup began when singer-guitarist Terry returned to NYC feeling younger and more adventurous than when he left. Where he was coming back from isn’t important to the story but suffice it to say his experiences left him with a wealth of songs - most of them inspired by classic rock, pop, soul and the DIY bands of the 80’s.
Drummer Dave’s style can best be characterized by his refusal to ever approach a backbeat too directly. He’s responsible for the quirky idiosyncrasies sprinkled throughout the tunes. He’s also the band’s resident intellectual - equally comfortable discussing jazz, world history, literature and episodes of ‘Firefly’ and 60’s sitcoms.
Bassist Maureen offsets Terry’s pretty chords with proto-thump. A film-maker who cringes at some of Terry’s musical influences, she keeps the proceedings honest, angular and interesting. Once the quiet one, Mo is coming into her own lately as recent rehearsal jams reflect a more balanced input from all three musicians. She’s also beginning to sing Dave’s collage-rendered lyrics. They’re looking forward to playing the new material live real soon. Stay tuned.
