Matt Skinner Band
Matt Skinner is an American musician, singer, songwriter, artist, poet and traveler blending original lyrics with elements of country, blues, western swing and roots-rock and roll. Graced with a keen eye for detail and imagery and coupled with a powerful, road-worn tenor voice, Skinner commands the stage with a tender ferocity and presence that is spellbinding in its organic honesty and mercurial resonance.
"That smooth, powerful tenor drawl that evokes the best of both Kings: country legend George Strait and rockabilly legend Elvis."
-Allie Eissler, TEXAS MUSIC MAGAZINE
Matt captures the raw spirit of music in his expert guitar work and haunting lyrics, deftly weaving a colorful tapestry of songs and stories of love and danger sharing his passion born of living with stoic elegance and infectious passion. Each performance is a thrilling, emotional carnival ride filled love, laughter, pain and heartbreak.
Matt has released three solo albums, Four Winds (2001), The Nighthawk Affair (2007) and Live at StoneCringe: Vol I (2009) on Tapadero Productions label and one independent rock EP, Four Day March (2010) with the supergroup, Eleven Bones. Songs co-written with Corb Lund are featured on Corb's album, Cabin Fever (2012) which was the #1 album in Canada and nominated for a Juno Award. Skinner's 4th studio album, Native Stranger (2013) is scheduled to be released in early fall.
A native of the Big Bend area of Texas, Matt now makes his home in Fort Collins, Colorado, and tours worldwide as a solo performer and sideman as well as fronting the Matt Skinner Band and as a member of the Waylon Willies.
