CABIN BOY with Chris Elliott and Adam Resnick in attendance

PhilaMOCA is proud to present an anniversary screening of the modern cult classic CABIN BOY on the very weekend that it was originally released 25 years ago! With co-writer/star Chris Elliott and co-writer/director Adam Resnick in attendance!

Chris Elliott and Adam Resnick first collaborated on Late Night with David Letterman in the late 1980s, on which Elliott portrayed a host of memorable characters including the Regulator Guy, the Guy Under the Seats, and Marlon Brando. In 1990 they co-created, alongside future THE SIMPSONS show runner David Mirkin, the Fox TV favorite GET A LIFE, which remains one of the strangest television sitcoms of modern times. 1994 saw the release of CABIN BOY, co-written by the pair with Elliott as star and Resnick as director. The film was obviously destined for cult status upon its release, it was a box office flop that confused both critics and audiences, but was embraced by fans of Elliott and offbeat cinema in general. It’s the story of a fancy lad (Elliott) who unintentionally sets off on a high seas adventure by way of the films of Ray Harryhausen. Co-produced by Tim Burton, the cast includes Russ Tamblyn, Brian Doyle-Murray, Ann Magnuson, and David Letterman in a rare film appearance that received a star-studded lampooning on the Academy Awards later that year.

Adam Resnick’s additional credits include writing stints on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW, and DEATH TO SMOOCHY. Chris Elliott is perhaps best known for his roles in GROUNDHOG DAY and THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY. He has also appeared in recurring roles on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, SCHITT’S CREEK, and the Adult Swim favorite EAGLEHEART.

Chris Elliott and Adam Resnick will be on-hand to introduce the film and participate in a Q&A.
