Former National Sawdust artist in residence and collaborator of Marina Abramovic Abraham Brody has been compared to such artists as AHONI (Anthony and the Johnsons), Agnes Obel, and Olafur Arnalds.
A singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist now based between Reykjavik and NYC, he combines both contemporary classical with electronic effects and influences from folklore that makes his work both futuristic as well as firmly rooted in the past.
Abraham Brody presents new work with strings as part of his new album 'Crossings' recorded at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland.
Brody's songwriting takes us on an exploration of our own vulnerability--through examining the transience of our contemporary relationships and the walls we build around ourselves, he brings us face to face using stark and unusual arrangements of his songs with strings, electronics, and percussion.
Praised by the New Yorker Magazine as 'thrilling', and a WNYC New Sounds 'Top 10 artist of 2017', he has performed at National Sawdust, the Kennedy Center D.C., The Public Theater NYC, Barbican Centre London, Southbank Centre London, Village Underground, The London Jazz Festival, Reykjavik Arts Festival, Sziget Festival Budapest, among others.
Abraham performs with:
