The Mansions _CA
Every artistic movement and every musical wave has a catalyst. For the post-punk revival, of the early 2000s, that catalyst was The Mansions.
At a time when most bands, in Los Angeles, were donning backward baseball caps or skanking to the burgeoning ska movement from Orange County –The Mansions were paving a road full of swagger.
While their sound was compared to British bands such as Suede and Pulp, it was their lead singer Eddie O. and the energy of their live shows which drew comparisons to Iggy Pop and The Doors.
It was only a matter of months, after their first show, that The Mansions found themselves headlining all the major clubs in Los Angles. They opened for national acts such as The Pretty Things UK, Beachwood Sparks, and Slash’s Snakepit.
They garnered international praise from journalists and radio stations alike (toping most collegiate radio stations in America) and obtained the attention of most major labels including Island, Maverick and Virgin, with whom they arrived at contract negotiations before things began to fall apart for the bandmates.
Since The Mansions parted ways in 2004, there have been rumors of a reunion or, at least, the hope and expectation of one remained alive amongst their fans.
The Mansions are Eddie O. (vocals), Johnny Burke, (guitar), Chris Cano (drums) and Chris Ridenhour (keys). The lads are happy to announce they will be doing a one night, only, reunion show Wednesday December 16 at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood.
The night promises nothing less than the same swagger, hooks and power that have become synonymous with The Mansions.
Relax to Paris
Relax to Paris is an Indie Pop band from Los Angeles. Singer / songwriter Ryan Gelber has devoted his life to his music, winning various awards including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, The Great American Song Contest, a KROQ sponsored battle of the bands, and an American Music Award nomination. He formed Relax To Paris with lifelong friend and bass player Garrett Marks, high school friend, annual Disney pass holder and piano player Cassie Nickols Gonzalez, and Reade Pryor who takes pride in his gardening as much as his drums.
The lush new wave sound of Relax to Paris has been described as The Cure meets David Bowie. Ironic since Ryan’s biggest influences are The Beach Boys and The Beatles.
In 2010 a virus attacked Ryan’s vocal cords. Lots of voice therapy and 7 operations later, Ryan is in remission. Relax to Paris is reuniting with the Mansions, December 19th at The Troubadour.
TANGIENTS is a post-punk, ambient "gaze-pop" duo based in Los Angeles. Chelsea Ray's intense, yet dream-like vocals can pierce as well as float over Be Hussey’s thick wall of sonics, resulting in a noisy, aggressive, yet ethereal sound.
