People's Blues Of Richmond

People's Blues Of Richmond

For fans of: Gogol Bordello, Modest Mouse, Led Zeppelin.

The uprising in infamy of People's Blues of Richmond started with the wild ruckus they caused in house parties and how that poor host's carpets might never be the same again once they graced the floors with their window-shaking rock. Created by the Richmond raised-angst that that was brewing inside of guitarist/vocalist Tim Beavers and bassist/vocalist Matthew Volkes, the twosome found they grew up in fine company together and explored adolescence, college and creative expression together on stage during open mic nights at the local venue Emilio's. The house drummer at Emilio's, Raph, provided the pulsating backbone of their anthem as they continued to put together covers and originals in order to keep meeting together and playing. Their intensity remained more memorable than the plethora of bands that teenagers create as outlets for their razor-sharped growing pains, resulting in them forming a group appropriately called "People's Blues of Richmond" and playing together regularly. PBR's self-described "honest" music resonates amongst the tired-eyed drunk and anxious in the Richmond bar scene. Coming to sing their woes and shake their bones wielding bar bottles like weapons to the sky, crowds gather around their muscular performances. With notes of emotional powerhouses such as Against Me, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill, but with a sound all their own, PBR transcends any limitations of genre-labeling and goes straight to the heart of their listeners. They attract fans of jam music as well as rock music, punk music, and acoustic music, by creating an unforgettable show for whoever gathers around to listen. Playing now for four years and appearing at over 15 different festivals, the band is accruing an enthusiastic following with a rapid and disorderly speed.
