Rufus Roundtree and Da B'More Brass Factory

Formally trained musicians, Rufus Roundtree and Da B'More Brass Factory infuse the essence of the New Orleans brass band sound that defines the Mardi- Gras experience with a hometown contemporary flare; recreating versions of R&B and hip-hop songs with funk, neo-soul and jazz elements... guaranteed to keep the crowd dancing. This is not the traditional band, this is truly an invigorating experience. This band has opened for George Clinton and The P-Funk All Stars, Dru Hill, 112, The Soul Rebels and The Grammy Award Winning Rebirth Brass Band along with Let The Monkey Go and many others. Rufus wears his signature Chapeau, which can be seen all over the party, as a result of an on-stage encounter while playing with George Clinton where Clinton ended up taking his stage hat, which originally was just a fedora, leaving him no other choice than to walk into his destiny and become the iconic entertainer he is today. Ask him to tell you about it, Great story. This band is a crowd favorite and often participates and headlines numerous local and national festivals. This band gained media attention at the center of the Baltimore Riots/Uprising as a result of their call to action to restore harmony to the community and peace to the streets through music. Rufus believes in an enhanced audience experience so expect to be a part of the show. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!!

Feel Free

Formed in 2010 in Alexandria, VA on the outskirts of Washington D.C., FeelFree’s smooth rock sound incorporates elements of reggae with hard hitting horn lines, tasteful guitar work, and catchy songs. The band independently released their third album "Define the Free" at a packed album release show in July of 2018 after premiering their single "Lonely Life" with critically acclaimed Rootfire Cooperative. Voted finalists in both FloydFest and LOCKN’s (two of the East Coast’s biggest music festivals) “On the Rise” band competitions in 2016 and 2017, FeelFree is ready to break loose from the pen.

The roots of FeelFree were first laid in 2004 when Andrew Pfeiffer (vocals/guitar/trombone), Evan Hulehan (guitars/vocals/production), and Bryan Frank (drums) began playing music together while enrolled in George Washington Middle School in Alexandria, VA. Playing middle school talent shows and their friends' parties, Pfeiffer, Hulehan and Frank fell in love with playing live early on. After adding Garret Clausen on bass/vocals/saxophone and Colin Cantfil on trumpet in 2010, FeelFree independently produced and released a few songs each year over the course of 2010-2013, helping to build underground buzz about the group throughout the Washington D.C. metro area while they finished up school.

After winning Deli Magazine: D.C.’s Emerging Artist of the Month award in the summer of 2013, the band entered Arlington VA's Inner Ear Studios (where D.C. legends like Fugazi, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, and SOJA crafted their sound) to record their next EP. FeelFree released The Ebb Tide EP in December 2013 at a packed album-release show in Old Town Alexandria, VA. The EP is a beautiful whirlwind of different sounds, influences, and genres. Ranging from the album's huge opening track "The Motions" to the album's closing track, a quiet but soulful acoustic ballad "After the Heatwave”, the band crafted an 8 song album that is simultaneously both upbeat and serene.

"FeelFree, in my opinion, is a perfect example of the sort of gems that the greater Washington D.C. area harbors, and discovering their talent, kinship and carefree approach to an incredible and unique sound, is what led me to approach them for an interview soon after our meeting. The five-piece stirs the cauldron with a reggae beat, funk-rock sound and a jazzy connotation. Pair that with breezy, soul-churning vocals, multi-instrumental talent… and you have yourself a recipe for a breadth of potential."-Karina Verlan, The MELOMANIACS
