Bearing witness to the accelerating negativity of global affairs, UK reggae legends, Steel Pulse, emerge with musical vengeance to halt the disarray of humanity. The forthcoming album, Mass Manipulation, set for early 2019 release (Rootfire Cooperative / Wiseman Doctrine), reflects four decades of bettering mankind through music. The debut single “Stop You Coming And Come” features ancient melodies paired with catchy lyrics, transporting the mind to a period of time where secrets of an African dynasty are unmasked. As reggae revolutionaries, Steel Pulse is revered by the younger generation of artists and remains a powerhouse on stages around the globe. Through the example of Mass Manipulation, Steel Pulse demonstrates the endless possibilities that come from breaking down the walls of systemic greed, and nurturing the fellowship of mankind.
Rocky & The Pressers
Rocky and The Pressers are a Bronx-based band known for their lush vocal arrangements and innovative reggae sound that draws from diverse influences. Since releasing their debut album (Dance at the Playhouse), they have been on hiatus while members pursued other projects and incubated new material. They are pleased to return to the stage at BK Bowl in support of Steel Pulse, featuring the four original members of the group playing both new and old material.
DJ JAH Culture
JAH Culture was harvested from the mind of Walter Anthony Teperino, way back in the early 90's at NYC's world famous "Wetlands Preserve" (R.I.P.!). It was here, while working as part of the staff, Walter/JAH CULTURE was exposed to many incredible years of amazingly talented bands, musicians & artists who graced the stage (including The Cannabis Cup Band), and also, not to forget mentioning the incredible artists, musicians & behind-the-scenes folks who made up the Wetlands staff (who ironically, many are now part of the heart & soul of your awesome ROCKS OFF crew today). That environment nurtured the many years of being involved as a touring & recording drummer for Punk/POP band "Lady Luck" (w/ Denise Teperino-Miret (his sister) on Vox & Roger Miret of Agnostic Front on Bass), & was also touring drummer for Punk/Reggae band: "King Django" (Hellcat/Epitaph Records) for the "Reason Tour".
Various US, Caribbean, European tours and other minor shows later, while on a vacation to JAMAICA, DJ JAH CULTURE was formed based on a need to continue doing music while not in a currently touring band, & while also being exposed to inspiring Jamaican Reggae & Dancehall culture. Upon returning to NYC/NJ, JAH Culture immediately started collecting records & purchasing turntables w/ the help & advice of longtime bredren & NYC DJ/Producer : "DJ GRAVY" (Rice & Peas NYC, & LargeUp.com). At the same time JAH Culture also started acquiring sound system equipment & knowledge w/ the help of a longtime bredren & audio engineer by the name of "BANANA SOUND" (Fair Lawn, NJ). Banana & JAH Culture originally met back in the Wetlands days (where Banana was the in house audio company), and after years of being out of contact after Wetlands closed (the week of 9/11), they ran into each other again and have not stopped working together since on countless productions & shows (including many ROCKS OFF productions).
