Noah Rott Quartet

Noah Rott Quartet

Noah Rott mixes a variety of influences in his multi-faceted playing and thus generates his own unmistakable sound, which captivates above all through melodic ingenuity. In addition to influences ranging from Bach to the Beatles to hip-hop and electronic music, Noah Rott is primarily committed to the tradition of American jazz. During his Bachelor studies from 2010 to 2015 at the University of Music and Theater, he studied various pianists in the history of jazz and developed a way of playing in which the old and the new are not contradictory.

After gaining autodidactic experience on the piano at a young age, he took lessons with the Hamburg jazz pianist Stephan Siebert from the age of 14. At 16, he won a first prize in the national competition "Jugend Jazzt" with his solo piano playing and his own compositions, which he won two years later with his own band. During his studies he had lessons with Prof. Buggy Braune and Prof. Tinatin Gambashidze as well as workshops with Kenny Werner, John Taylor, Michael Wollny, Alon Yavnai, Jean Michel Pilc, Nils Wogram and Kenny Wheeler.

In autumn 2014, Noah Rott lived in New York for three months ,the worldwide epicenter of jazz. During the inspiring stay, he explored the local jazz scene extensively, played regularly at public sessions and made many contacts with musicians of the scene. In the meantime, Noah Rott has established himself as a much sought after and creative sideman in the Hamburg jazz scene. He plays in various formations and projects and performed on concert tours in Europe, China, South Korea and Nepal. In addition to his activities as a companion, he leads his own quartet and composes for the Lasse Golz Quartet. So Noah Rott thrilled the audience not only as a pianist, but also through his compositional skills. His pieces are characterized by lyrical melodies,

Since 2013 he has been involved in the promotion of jazz projects as a board member of " JazzHaus Hamburg eV ".

Since 2015, Noah Rott has directed his own concert series, which presents groove-oriented jazz in the VOLT monthly under the title JAZZLAB .

Noah Rott has been a Fulbright Fellow of the prestigious Fulbright program since 2017 and is studying a Master in Jazz Performance at the NYU in New York City. In addition to studying with Peter Bernstein, Brad Shepik and Kevin Hays, Noah Rott teaches jazz piano for non-majors at NYU.
