Curls is a band formed from various recording sessions in the Bay Area. What started out as the next step in Christopher Owens’ storied solo career quickly became something more when he was joined by crack musicians Cody Rhodes and Luke Baće while recording his next release. It immediately became apparent that a chemistry was felt and that each musician brought something unique to the musical canvas. By the end of the recording process the musicians had agreed to move forward as a unit and San Francisco’s Curls had officially began.
Born from the riverside town of Gloucester City, NJ, The Warhawks have been gaining attention for the past few years with their unique style of rock and roll. Blending influences from the 80s College Alternative scene, the Garage Rock Revival of the new millennium, as well as from the mid-20th century pioneers of rock, these four South Jersey natives produce heavy hitting, guitar driven tracks with well crafted vocal melodies complimented by powerful harmonies.
Civil Holdup is a hardworking original rock band from the Philadelphia area based out of Pennsville, New Jersey. With songs varying from dark and beautiful to fun and energetic, Civil Holdup's original material is interesting and different. Civil Holdup songs span multiple genres including rock, alternative, blues-rock, and folk-rock with a sound similar to Band of Horses, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Cage the Elephant, and Incubus. In addition to these bands, Civil Holdup draws influences from artists like Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, and Tool.
Civil Holdup projects these multiple moods through dramatic live performance and thoughtful song writing. The songs are musically and instrumentally complex, but easy to enjoy. Civil Holdup focuses on the listener. Catchy and thought provoking vocals - addictive and memorable guitar riffs - powerful, creative bass lines - and intricate, thundering drums. Civil Holdup's songs have much to offer any listener and its live performances showcase strong musicianship and a hardworking stage presence. Music that is too simple can be bland and forgettable, while music that is overly complex can be hard to enjoy - Civil Holdup falls right in between those extremes.
Civil Holdup's past few years have shown monumental growth and potential. With the release of their debut 5-song EP in 2013, Civil Holdup gained strong local support, radio play, and earned the opportunity to perform and headline at renowned venues like the Trocadero and World Cafe Live. After two years of writing and over a year in the studio, Civil Holdup has taken the next step forward as a band by recording their first full length album, "Blind Man's Dream" - set to release in Q3, 2015. With it's first single, "Either Way", the album will further improve Civil Holdup's prominence within the Philadelphia local rock scene and beyond - all born from a basement practice space doubling as a brewery.
