The Undercurrent, Thrown-Out Bones

This event is all ages
Not so long ago, in the heart of a particularly fat jam session, two grown choir boys decided to create a funk fusion band. When they found a Swedish American, vegan bass player with a secret handshake, the journey began. Along the way, they picked up a rowdy, trumpet-wielding brother and a fearless groove specialist.
For a fateful summer, the Fatboys wandered many sonic lands, sharing their learnings with the good people of the Bay. Then came the studio... and now, for the first time ever, you can hear their debut record on the internet via Spotify or Apple Music!
The Undercurrent is the San Francisco-based indie duo of Wendy Chuah and Paul Zielinski. The two first met in 2015, and small talk quickly turned into meaningful songwriting. With Wendy as an expressive vocalist and lyricist, and Paul as an experienced producer and multi-instrumentalist, they have been able to play off each other’s artistic strengths and sensibilities to create a soulful, indie pop sound with a distinctive California vibe.
As their name suggests, despite their often contrary musical tastes, an underlying force allows the duo to meet in the in-between — combining driving beats, layered guitar riffs, memorable melodies, and tying it all together with heartfelt lyrics.
The Undercurrent is joined live on stage by Anthony Puducay on drums, Jack Sundquist on bass, and Dave Hilbert on guitar.
Whether it be improvising songs, crowd-surfing, or pulling audience members on stage to sing along, Thrown-Out Bones is constantly pushing the boundaries of what it means to perform. Their classic style flirts with a seductive and gritty tone all their own.
