Jesse Fischer is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, and songwriter. Largely self-taught, he is known for his warm, soulful touch and emphasis on melody, groove, storytelling and emotion, and his affinity for combining elements of his own Jewish heritage with music of the African diaspora, jazz, hip-hop, folk. His newest project, Flipped II, is the next installment of the series that began with Flipped (2010) and continued with Vein Melter (2015), his Herbie Hancock tribute collaboration with multi-instrumentalist/producer Sly5thAve. Picking up where Vein Melter left off, Flipped II is a love letter to the hard bop, soul jazz, and jazz fusion of the late 60’s/early 70’s, as seen thru the lens of golden era hip-hop beats and future jazz sounds of today — including re-works of Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Stevie Wonder, and Wayne Shorter compositions.
Flipped II features a host of amazing guest artists including vocalist Jaime Woods, saxophonist/arranger Sly5thAve, trumpeter Billy Buss, saxophonist Godwin Louis, percussionists Mino Cinélu and Keita Ogawa. Jesse performs all the keyboard, bass, guitar, and drum parts, along with engineering, mixing, and mastering. Flipped II was self-released July 13, 2018 and quickly gained support throughout the world, from Spotify’s State of Jazz, Butter, and Fresh Finds: The Wave playlists to BBC Radio 3 (UK), Jazz FM (UK), Wicked Jazz Sounds (Amsterdam), Nextbop, Revive Music, and PBS FM (Australia).
