Christine Havrilla and Gypsy Fuzz
Philadelphia area native Christine Havrilla, after embarking on an ambitious new journey with her Gypsy Fuzz project in late 2011, is releasing a series of "Live Sessions" into 2016. It will include long-time fan favorites as well as new songs with her current band, Gypsy Fuzz.
Recording in numerous settings such as venues, living rooms, a recording studio with an live audience, in an old church, etc...these volumes will capture the spontaneous energy, soul-felt vibes and musical adventures that Christine brings to the stage, ANY stage! Havrilla, who has seven studio albums, five EPs, and over 15 years of touring under her belt, continues to venture out under “Christine Havrilla & Gypsy Fuzz” as well as a solo artist, showcasing ALL of her music with new twists.
Gypsy Fuzz/“Searching. Finding. Living.”, produced by Larry Crane (Cat Power, Sleater-Kinney, Elliott Smith) and Christine, is described as "a blend of 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s rock delivered by the modern singer/songwriter."
Christine is known for bringing her “well-built, catchy, smart tunes” (Upstage Magazine) to audiences everywhere, touring nationally as a solo act as well as with Gypsy Fuzz. After an inspirational time of being based in Portland, OR, Christine is once again back in the Philly area and frequenting such venues as Tin Angel, World Café Live, Steel City, Godfrey Daniels, Jammin’ Java, Burlap and Bean, Triumph Brewing Company, Rockwood Music Hall, Club Passim, to name a few.
Michael McKenna at Steel Notes Magazine shares:
“This ambitious Philly native manifests her talent in certain ways that allows her to create eclectic music which will grab your heart and leave a lasting memory. Her Roots/Folk/Americana background coupled with that unique individuality that she possesses allows her to be a presence that steps into many genres and gives her the tools to crossover to different music formats. This album (Vol. 2 The Sunset Sessions) just defies description. It’s hot, tight, precise, and just plain kick-ass. If I was still programming radio, I’d be all over this! My recommendation is to go hear the band live, buy the CD, and experience what I have just heard. I give this TWO THUMBS UP!”
Mama's Black Sheep
Mama’s Black Sheep is the soulful collaboration of singer-songwriters Ashland Miller (guitar/vocals) and Laura Cerulli (drums/vocals). Together, this duo creates a blend of hit-worthy originals and covers with a unique spin. Each song allows you to travel with time, whether you’re swinging to Country, Rocking to Pop, Grooving to Soul, or swaying to the Blues; there’s always something to move your body and stir your soul!
Touring together since 2008, Miller & Cerulli (veterans of the singer-songwriter circuit), will make you feel like every aspect of their journey is in Real-Time. Creating a sound all of their own, Mama’s Black Sheep is driven by Miller’s versatile guitar grooves, Cerulli’s innovative percussion, and two voices that blend like honey & whiskey in perfect harmonious balance. These ladies rock to their own beat, sharing songs of life and love, and empowering the listener to live boldly beyond the barriers.
Ashland and Laura, produce magical tapestries of songs, weaving energetic color and rich texture to create an infectious and lively conversation between guitar and percussion. Miller’s passionate voice will make you laugh, cry, feel inspired, and ultimately, desire more. Bob Steel of “Baltimore Out Loud” writes “Cerulli opens her mouth and the world stands still as she wrings every drop of emotion out of the lyrics with her powerful, soaring voice, forged in the fires of the blues and tempered in the cool technique of her classical training.”
This thought-provoking duo will tantalize your aural appetite, regardless of your musical taste buds, with a diverse blend of blues, soul, country, pop, and more by unapologetically dipping into the well of all music genres. It’s called soulful, poetic storytelling with an irresistible groove.
Drawing from the Americana tradition and firmly grounded with a pleasing pop sensibility, the performing songwriter team, Jen and Scott Smith, and their band, Naked Blue, have become a mainstay on the folk/pop scene. They quit their day jobs in 1991 and have been writing, recording & performing since, with 6 full length albums and performances in 6 countries. Scott & Jen's obvious joy & camaraderie on stage together and easy rapport with their audience are the backdrop to their trademark performance, defined by Jen's instantly recognizable smoky & vulnerable voice and Scott's passionate and impeccable guitar work. Over the years they've developed a reputation for great songwriting as well and their songwriting credits include cuts on Evangeline's 'French Quarter Moon' Margaritaville/MCA, Troy Turner's latest single on Telarc Records.
Throughout their career they've had the opportunity to work with a host of fine artists; sharing stages with John Mayer, Joe Cocker, Jeffrey Gaines, Aimee Mann to name a few. Scott & Jen's Wood and Stone Room recording studio and Wood and Stone Songwriting Retreat has led to production and collaboration credits on a list of songwriting “who's who” and Mid-Atlantic music luminaries including Jennifer Daniels, Arlon Bennett, Tony Denikos, Wyatt Easterling, Cassidy Ford, Eric Scott, Mary Sue Twohy, We're About 9, ellen cherry, Todd Wright, Jon Carroll, Guggenheim Grotto, Anne McCue, Beggars Ride, Patty Reese, Mary Ann Redmond, Phil Madeira, Beth Wood, Mobtown Moon, Christian Lopez, Paul Pfau, Austin Ellis, Beki Hemingway, Luke Brindley and more.
