Flotsam And Jetsam

Flotsam And Jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam are an American thrash metal band, formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1981.
We made our live debuts in local clubs and in California and had the opportunity to play with bands such as Megadeth, Armored Saint, Alcatraz, Malice, Exciter, Mercyful Fate, Riot, Autograph. Mark left and the 17 year old Michael Gilbert joined the band in 1985. Flotsam and Jetsam released two demo tapes in 1985, Iron Tears and Metal Shock. We created our own video "Hammerhead" from the Metal Shock demo in Jason's living room. We also recorded live video from the infamous club Bootleggers. Those combined with the demos made a good impression on Record labels and after we contributed to the Speed Metal Hell II and Metal Massacre VII compilations, we got a deal with Metal Blade Records.
Then we recorded our first album in Los Angeles with producer Brian Slagel. The release of "Doomsday for the Deceiver" was on July 19, 1986. Many considered this album as a milestone in the history of thrash metal and we were the first band in KERRANG's history to achieve the 6K rating. Bassist Jason Newsted, who was also the band's main lyric writer, departed soon after to join Metallica, replacing their bassist Cliff Burton who died in an accident. Flotsam and Jetsam had asked another local bassist Phil Rind, "Sacred Reich", to fill in Jason's place for a short time. We then acquired Mike Spencer from Sacramento band "Sentinel Beast". The band signed with Elektra Records before touring Europe with Megadeth in 1987.

Dead By Wednesday

In 2005, Dead By Wednesday made their first mark by releasing their debut CD Democracy is Dead on Jasta of Hatebreed's Stillborn Records which sold 3K out of the box with it’s debut. Then in 2008 came The Killing Project, the highly anticipated sophomore full length CD on Eclipse Records (Mushroom Head, Scum of the Earth). The Killing Project demonstrated with a punch to the face, New Haven CT's very own aggressive hybrid of metal, punk, & real hard core. While considered a metal band, DBW's older sound was once called “cross-over". With songs of urgency & importance regarding ideas on religion, current world affairs, race & equality, it was destined to make an impact. And it did. Shortly after, the video for the single 'Pawns' by Grammy nominated producer David Brodsky of My Good Eye, NYC, went into rotation on MTV2's former show ‘Headbanger's Ball’, as well as Music Choice, Havok TV on Demand, Sirius Liquid Metal, Rock Band, Touch Tunes, and even placed in UFC. Then in 2011, the band worked on all new brutal material & went into the studio recording their equally as important junior LP with long time friend & producer Enoch Jensen. Dead By Wednesday was focused on making “their Master of Puppets” dubbed The Last Parade, and some believe they succeeded in doing so. The release of The Last Parade was followed by a full U.S tour with Straight Line Stitch and Defiler, sponsored by the clothing line Hatewear, Inc. Two of their music videos from the album were featured on Comcast on Demand, one of which was screened at various film festivals across the country. Dead By Wednesday went on to snag the “Best Metal” award two years in a row at the Connecticut Music Awards. Their fourth release in 2014 was a short but sweet five song powerhouse EP entitled Death of the Rockstar, that leaves you wanting more. Following its release, Dead by Wednesday went on a US tour with the Grammy nominated metal band Shadow's Fall, playing sold out shows across the country. Next they did an American East Coast tour with power metal legends Flotsam & Jetsam, as well a short run with Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (D.R.I.).

In 2015, DBW had to part ways with their frontman, Joe Morbidelli, due to his battle with addiction. In response to his heartbreaking departure, the band recorded their newest album, Darkest of Angels. Each song features a guest singer from a prominent metal band of the past decades, including Brian Fair of Shadow's Fall, Carly Coma of Candiria, Rob Dukes of Exodus and Generation Kill, Waylon of Mushroom Head, Jon Arch of Fates Warning, AK of Flotsam & Jetsam and more. The theme of the album is addiction, as an ode to their former frontman. The album will be released in the spring of this year.

After months of auditions, DBW finally found their newest singer, 6'5 powerhouse Rob Roy from Ma. Together with Joey Concepcion on guitar (who also plays in Armageddon with Arch Enemy's Chris Amott), Opus on drums (who also plays with Marc Rizzo of Soulfly) and Mike Modeste on bass, the band has morphed into a "real" unstoppable international act. They are band that can be put up on the same stages with any of the top metal contenders "of the now." Throughout the years they have toured relentlessly, and in doing so have found their own sound and style, creating a fierce loyal fan base along the way. Now, with all the right members in place, they have all the pistons of this metal turbo engine running full throttle, and are without a doubt a serious force to be reckoned with.

Dead by Wednesday has recently rocked the stage at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, along with White Chapel, King Diamond and Slayer. They played Rock & Shock Horror Festival several years in a row, with Life of Agony, GWAR, Hatebreed and Soulfly. At the New England Metal Festival they played along with Battlecross, Goatwhore, Dillinger Escape Plan and Opeth. This March they will share the stage with death metal titans Revocation at The Providence Tattoo & Music Festival.

Distant Warning

Distant Warning is an all original, five piece melodic rock band hailing from Colorado Springs. Ron (vox) and Duane (lead guitar) first formed the core of this band way back in 1987. Since then they have played hundreds of shows in over 70 venues across Colorado and the southwest region. They have 4 full length CDs and are currently working on their first DVD. Since each member of Distant Warning contributes to the writing, the band's unique sound is comprised of their various influences.

The wide range of influences include everything from 80's "hair metal", "speed metal", and the great "arena bands" sounds of that time period. Also mixed in are heavy influences of classical, jazz and "classic rock" of the 70's and 80's. We are also big fans of "progressive metal", "european metal" and "nu metal" styles which have left their marks on our collective psyches. Quips Duane, "There are some really talented young rock bands out there that did their homework and focused on their musicianship. Those are the bands we tend to gravitate toward." We even have some power ballads and some bluesy stuff as well.

Distant Warning has opened for national acts such as JACKYL, KISS ARMY, HEAD EAST, FRANK HANNON and EDGAR WINTER.

Vocal harmonies, guitar harmonies, blistering guitar leads, earthshaking bass, and thunderous drums! That's what makes Distant Warning one of the region's favorite melodic rock bands.
