Born in the Nationʼs Capital and now living in Toronto, Steve Marriner has been a fixture of the Canadian music scene for nearly twenty years.
While Steve is a talented guitarist, keyboardist and bassist, he is most widely regarded as Canadaʼs top harmonica player having won Harmonica Player of The Year at The Maple Blues awards in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. His soulful singing also won him the Maple Blues Award for ʻMale Vocalist of The Yearʼ in 2009.
Still in his early thirties, this multi-instrumentalist and producer has developed a strong reputation for being an effective utility man both for live and studio performances. As such, Steve has record, performed and toured with artists such as Colin James, Harry Manx, Randy Bachman, Matt Andersen and Paul Reddick.
In 2008, Steve teamed up with guitarist Tony D and drummer Matt Sobb and formed the swamp rock supergroup MonkeyJunk. Together, the band has played over one thousand shows across Canada, The USA and Europe. In their ten-year history MonkeyJunk has won twenty-one Maple Blues Awards, two Independent Canadian Music Awards, one Blues Music Award ( Formerly WC Handy Award in the USA) and two Juno Awards in 2012 and 2018 for Blues Album Of The Year.
